This would have been awesome. Follow up with a funeral scene for anderson/any squad members that were killed, and then show the various races working together to rebuild, with an emphasis on hope for the future. Now that's an ending.

This is the ending we need AND deserve.
Fight that power! Stick it to the StarGod.

I like. I think if you have a LOW EMS it should also be possible that the shuttle can't get to you and there is a chance you die. Would be pretty cool to see.

First off, whoever came up with the idea of calling the Catalyst "Starchild" should have their ear flicked repeatedly. Anyway, if the Catalyst actually could just tell the Reapers to leave, Shepard wouldn't have needed to sacrifice himself to alter their minds. An interrupt option would essentially just be wasting time while more of your fleet is obliterated. Shepard was in no position to be calling the shots, wounded and dealing with technology he didn't understand while his friends and allies were dying. He ended the Reaper threat by swallowing his pride and listening to the Catalyst, which was truly heroic.  His trust was rewarded, as the Catalyst wound up being honest about what would happen with each choice Shepard made.  Saying "I won't listen to you, we'll keep fighting!" would have just condemned everyone to death.

If this is the case, then there's no reason for Shep or anyone else to be there in the first place and every single thing you've done over the course of the last three games is absolutely pointless which is why no one likes these endings now - same thing - nothing we did matters.

That doesn't even make sense.  Everything you did in all three games got you to the point where the Crucible was hooked up to the Citadel.  The things you did even dictate how helpful the Catalyst is in telling you how to resolve the situation.  The reason he gives you those choices is *because* of the things you've done, because *you've* left *him* with no other option than to help you end the conflict.

Honestly I don't think that would make a difference anyway lol. By all accounts, Casey locked himself away and wrote the ending without input from ANYONE else. I respect the guy and all, but that was a HUGE mistake.

Although this wouldn't fix the massive plot holes(aside from Normandy crash land) it would work much better for the series.

Bioware, HIRE THIS PERSON!

Love it. This is exactly the kind of Paragon interrupt I was waiting for the entire time when that starchild was speaking.

But in this case, I'm tempted to take the Renegade interrupt and just fire a bullet right through the stupid kid's skull.

Shepard: No.
Catalyst: Okay then, don't do anything. I certainly can't force you.

This would have been beautiful. Shepard actually staying true to himself and his beliefs, the very beliefs he's been fighting for through three games, and refusing to accept the ridiculous options presented to him by the Starchild.

But wait, that would have made sense...can't have that.
