I am using this to get me started in Console Cheats: http://cheats.ign.co...682/682217.html
Yet, when I enter the game and hit the ` key my commands are not actually being entered. I know that various sites say that you won't see it being typed, but I know nothing is being entered since the keys are moving my character around as they would in normal gameplay.
I have Windows 7
I am running the exe as admin.
Any ideas?
Console Cheats- ?

Are you running the game with -enabledeveloperconsole as a parameter?
eg. daorigins.exe -enabledeveloperconsole
` will not work unless enabled.

I don't know about Windows 7, but this happens for me in Vista.
Go to Control Panel, and then go to Device Manager. Under Human Interface Devices, uninstall Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver.

Black--Hand -- I changed the .exe as that link instructed, and the game does launch just as normal. To clarify, we are supposed to change the "daorigins" exe to "daorigins-enabledeveloperconsole". We should then launch the game, load our save, and then hit the ` key which will then allow us to enter console commands, correct? When I hit ` nothing happens.
ChaoticBroth -- "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver" is not on my machine. Was it on yours and you had to uninstall it to make it work?
Thanks

@Domhnall7: Sorry, you misunderstood me.
You should not be changing the name of the file. Either create a shortcut to the executable file and add " -enabledeveloperconsole" to the target (minus the quotes BUT including the space), or, launch the daorigins.exe executable from the command line:
daorigins.exe -enabledeveloperconsole
Just as an example to further clarify. If I wanted to create a shortcut that enabled the developer console, the target field in my shortcut would be, exactly:
"D:\\Games\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\DAOrigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

Black--Hand -- Thank you. That was what I had done incorrectly. For all others who have this problem there is one more thing you should be careful of--where the quotes end (which was one of my mistakes):
When you change the Target line of the shortcut it should look like this:
"C:\\games\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole
and NOT like this:
"C:\\games\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe -enabledeveloperconsole"

Hello guys
New to DA:O, but loving the game so far.
I've done exactly as stated above, but it doesn't work for me. I even went to key bindings to change the default key for the console. But still does not work.
I'm running the game on the spanish version. The only thing I noticed that looks different is that you guys, and everyone else uses \\\\ when in my pc is //. Don't know if that is of any relevance.
Well reply would be very gratifying, thanks guys.

All I know is what I have seen so far, which is:
1) You create a shortcut from the game's .exe file (to your desktop).
2) Right-click on your (desktop) icon, choose Properties. Change the name of the Target line (in English) exactly to --
"C:\\games\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole
-- (All you should add is the last part
-enabledeveloperconsole
OUTSIDE of the parentheses).
3) Launch the game from this (desktop) icon. If the game loads, then hit the ` key and enter the appropriate command.
You
will be typing "blind" (nothing appears to show that you're typing).
You will know the commands are being typed if the keys no longer
function as they do in the game normally (EG- "W" doesn't move you
forward). You must hit Enter after each command.

Does this work in Win 7? I think I'm doing it correctly, but my char is running all over the place, my inventory and char screen are opening.

I need to reply to my own post. It works with Win 7 and what Domhnall7 and the others said was correct. However, I decided to pick x as the key to activate the console. It appears that no matter what key you pick in keybindings, the ` is still the ket you need to use to activate the console. I hope I'm not telling everyone something you already know.

Why just make a new thread :/.. to each his own.
hit ~ you will not see a console.
then just type the cheat and hit enter twice to ensure it closes. (you will see jibberish pop up when you begin typing, ignore it.

Here.... let me find the file...
Goto
c:\\\\users\\\\yourusername\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings\\\\keybindings
CTRL-F
find: console (Type in "console")
You should come to
OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_Grave
change to
OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_F11
or whatever you want.
Save.

And you CAN see what you type.
Bioware just forgot (perhaps on purpose) to include the font for the console.

I have a problem. When I type in -enabledeveloperconsole at the end, and then click 'apply', it says something about the target not existing and then it doesn't work. what do I do?

@Vaati - "Do it correctly" is the best answer you're likely to get.
Did you *very* carefully follow exactly the procedure given in
http://dragonage.wik...om/wiki/Console
including ensuring that there are quotes around the program name
but *not* around the -enabledeveloperconsole ?

When I go to properties, then what? It won't let me change the target name at all, or am I not going to the right place?
