I must be the only one that didn't let her come aboard the Normandy in the first place...

Nope.
I let her on the ship once on my first playthrough, only to kick her off after the first conversation. Useless, awful character. Haven't let her on since.
I never let her aboard either. I liked the response: [paraphrased] "I'm commanding a stealth ship. You're a reporter. The two don't fit."
I don't see the point of letting her come aboard. I was already pissed off at all the ninja additions. Hello, Traynor?
I want Kelly back...... Traynor isn't as fun to talk to, atleast Kelly gives me a pep talk..... It's always about Traynor's tooth brush or her past, her friends, her education...... missions she has for me.... does it always have to be about you? As ugly as Diana Allers is, she had properly developed her communication skills in the field of kissing ass and builds up ego
Toothbrush: One line during the first talk with her.
Her past: One line about her growing up on Horizon, a few more if Shepard asks about it.
Her friends: Didn't come up, as far I as can remember.
Her education: only if Shepard asks about it and even then only one time.
She does tell Shepard about missions multiple times, but you know that's kind of her job, right? I also think it's not always about her as she shows enough interest in Shepard. Maybe not initally, but you have to understand that Shepard is a veteran soldier and Traynor was just a civilian before the Reaper war. It's just like in real life: experienced employees will often ask their new colleagues if everything is OK, not the other way around.
Nothing wrong with Kelly, by the way, but I felt that she was always a bit... flat... as a character. Traynor gets way more character development and I akways end up seeing her as a full-fledged member of the team (and a quite important one at that), whereas Kelly always stayed "just an extra" to me.
