I went to Play my saved game just a little bit ago and the content verifacation Server was down and the Cloud server was down. It couldn't load my save. I think this is a bit restrictive see how I have all the content on my computer and Should just be able to load it up. I can Understand a one time content vitrifaction system like what Microsoft does every time you install windows, but I think every time you open the game is a bit much especially since I've seen the reliable -or lack there of- of the Bioware/EA server. Not to mention what will happen if Bioware/EA decides to stop supporting that server because it is no longer profitable(which will happen). Can you imagine the Chaos if Microsoft Windows only worked when you had a live internet connection.  I just think you should rethink this.

As of now it seems like the vitrifaction servers have been down for about a half hour.

In addition to the above

This will not prevent piracy, hackers will Crack it no matter what. The only poeple who are suffering are the people that legitimately bought the product.  If Bioware/EA insists on more then just the initial online Activation there has to be a better way. Why not have each verification be good for a month Still check ever time you start the game, but have is verification be good for a month that way if for some reason the Server or the owners internet isn't working it doesn't prevent them from playing. Basicly just reset a one month countdown timer ever time there is a vitrifaction.

"This will not prevent piracy, hackers will Crack it no matter what" - and already have in fact done so.

What's wrong with your local copy? Not only do you NOT have to cloud save, but I was given local save options even, when I did cloud save.

The save was fine the issue was I couldn't load the save without verifying the DLC online again

The dlc's are being verified everytime you start the game, if the server is down well you can't load the save since the dlc they're dependant on isn't verified.

Im getting the same problem now. The EA servers are down apparently so now I can't play my singleplayer game. Regardless of what the requirements say on the package about needing an internet connection, i think its still deeply immoral to stop somone using playing a game they paid for because of circumstances outside their control. I could understand if it was a MMORPG like World of Warcraft which is online based. But Mass Effect is almost completely a Single player game. To play the game doesnt in the least 'require' an internet connection. Its just because you've made it require one.

Like the first poster said, the game has probably already been hacked. The only people you are disadvantaging are the people that are doing the right thing. And companies wonder why people pirate...

And if You consider that BioWare said that we don't need to be pernamently connected it seems that someone was spreading THE LIE.

BioWare, Y U NO let me play Mass Effect 3 offline?!

Seriously, this is becoming a big issue here! I want to play the game offline without the game having to verify every dang time I start Mass Effect 3!
That, and fix From Ashes. More often than not my saves cannot be loaded because of "missing content."

I paid for ME1, ME2 Digital Deluxe, and pre-ordered ME3 Digital Deluxe, but now I can't play my single player game because of this stupid authorisation.

This is only encouraging piracy because legitimate users are punished while people with cracks get to play without any problem.

I have to add my agreement. Why needlessly aggravate your users by insisting on re-verifying the DLC every session and then punish those users by not actually being able to do the verification at something like 99.99% up time? Even worse, fail during peak evening usage on the North American East Coast. So, by downloading the Day 1 DLC, I impair my ability to actually play the game? Great use of $10.

Ungood. Double plus ungood.

I have the exact same issue. Me thinks it's an Origin issue.

I can sometimes connect only to disconnect and then inevitably crash. I am quite annoyed, to put it lightly.

I am now at the point where every time I start Origin I get 'Origin has stopped working' or 'Mass Effect 3 has stopped working', including several instances of the Origin icon in my systems tray.

Supposedly this should't be happening - see http://social.biowar...ndex/9680588/4. But the fact of the matter is that it's happening. So either this is a "feature" that isn't being acknowledged, or BioWare was just omitting the truth. You can play single player offline after authentication (unless you paid extra for the DLC)!

Any ways, I sent in the issue to EA support on Saturday night... they replied with a solution for saving a game offline. I not so kindly re-explained the situation and the difference between saving and loading a save, and have been waiting for a response since. I just sent another email about my case, and if anything comes from it, I'll post the solution here.

Sadly, from my experience, the only way you can play your game (that contains DLC) is to both be connected to the EA servers and in Online mode in Origin. So if your internet connection dies, or the EA/Origin servers are down, guess it's a good time to read a book? Or maybe find a game on gog.com?

FFS. So we're going to be punished because Origin isn't up to scratch or, gasp, we don't have a reliable internet connection? I wish EA would get it through their heads that not all of their subjects have a fibre optic jack running right into the back of their heads. I knew when I picked up this game that multiplayer would be a dodgy proposition at best, but I at least expect to be able to play the single-player campaign. Now I can't even do that. Can I have my $100 back now?

Punished for going through legitimate avenues to play a game - as well as paying extra for content that makes it impossible to play single player campaign offline. I would've thought this would've been caught or at least addressed by now - since it looks like two step authentication process - EA servers then DLC content. If the EA server check can be bypassed, then so should the DLC check.

Any ways, EA's response was to update the game... It didn't work for me:

"In the Origin launcher, click on the information button for Mass Effect 3 ( i )
Right click "N7 Collector's Edition Materials"
Then click "Check for updates".
It should download a 50MB patch.
Install the patch.

This should resolve the issue."

I already had the patch, so nothing downloaded. I did try repairing, and that downloaded some stuff, but it still didn't fix the offline issue.

I'll keep posting replies as I get them. Or if anyone else has a workaround that doesn't involve being online or not playing DLC - I want to know.

I just experienced this issue also; it's a lousy feeling to spend $70 on a new single-player game only to be told I can't load my saved games because a server is down and my DLC can't be verified.

You can only squeeze money out of people and then make them jump through hoops for so long before they quit putting up with it, and I'm about at that point with Bioware / EA now (even though I've loved their games in the past.)

I tried to play my local copy last night when my internet went out.

Refused to load stating something like "From Ashes content could not be verified"... so because I spent more money, on more content, I am not allowed to play the game offline.

I had this problem. Luckily it only impacted me once, but it was very annoying. The idea that you can only play the game offline if you don't buy any DLC's seems like a poor business decision. It probably does encourage piracy but it certainly discourages buying any DLCs (at least to anyone that finds out in advance and intends to play offline sometime).

I'm gonna wear my fingers down posting this everywhere, this REALLY needs to be stickied.

Kill all your Origin-related processes in the Task Manager. Unplug your Internet (or disable it in the Control Panel). Start the game with the desktop shortcut. If you managed to make that save, it means you authorized the DLC at least once successfully, and in offline mode (which you will now be in), it will not require reauthorization. Have fun.
