Oh great - this again. So, people still haven't learned that it's kind of out of line to throw the "fire this dev" thing around. *Sigh*

The only one I wish harm would come to is the tool that leaked the script in the first place. In my opinion, that is who is truly to blame. Mac Walters did what he could and sadly, his writing team didn't deliver the ending that most feel the series deserves.

I don't think this is the right place for a thread like this

This is out of line, because you do not know exactly what parts he was responsible for.

agreed!

fans always believe drew was the only good writter on the franchise when they fail to realize that drew was only a lead writter meaning there was a team

While I don't necessarily agree with the OP. Mac Walters was confirmed as the writer of the ending.

he was lead writter so that leaves me to believe he leads a team

Honestly, I can't help but wonder if Drew K will join us once he plays through ME3. Apparently he's too busy until summer to reasonably expect to play it.

Either that or he knows that if he says what he thinks that he will be fired.

Fired? I thought he left Bioware.

Part of the reason why we get games with crappy, cliched stories that go nowhere is because people are afraid to take the risk and be creative.

These risks don't always play out right. That doesn't mean he should lose his job and be replaced by someone who'll only go the safe, bland way.

While I by no means want to see anyone lose their job, it is completely possible to have a creative ending while still elaborating on the consequences it (and Shepard's previous actions) had.

I could use a lot of words to describe the ending to Mass Effect 3.

Creative is not one of them.

But Mac wrote the ending. You can't blame his team for that.

I'm not disagreeing with blaming the leaker (Microsoft). I'm just stating facts.

No one should be fired and starting with this kind of rhetoric won't help anybody. Mac has done an amazing job apart from the ending. And the ending can be fixed.

I agree it was too strong so I changed it. I still do not feel that Mac Walters should be responcibile for where the story goes from here.

Edit: Meh, scratch that previous thing I wrote. Anyway, demanding something like this is way too much if you ask me. It was a bad ending, but not so horrible they need to fire someone...

Just... reprioritize how endings are written. Bring in some more people than just one person to write something like this. One person will probably end up having a lot of ideas that look good in their own minds, which doesn't always look the same to people on the outside.

He is the lead writer. He is responsible for the story and how it is maintained, and writes the main script. Which would include the ending. The other writers contribute, they write characters and missions and other plot points, but Walters is directly responsible for the main story.

Be that as it may, He shouldn't be fired for it. I want the ending changed just as much as the next guy, but demanding that people lose their jobs over this is too much. These are people's livelyhoods we are talking about.

I'm giving Mac the benefit of the doubt. The mined sound files prove he wrote more, it just got left on the cutting room floor. Who's to say more didn't?

I don't want anyone fired.

I want to pay Bioware to please give us more choices at the end and give us an Epilogue. It's not any more complicated than that.

Yeah after that ending he shouldn't be a lead writer for a cereal commercial.

if you want your voice heard louder got to my blog which I have a link too in my Sig , click on my ME3 review and click on the links to my polls.

1. would you Boycott Bioware if they don't fix the endings
2. do you believe Multiplayer should have no impact on the single player campaign
3. Facebook Campaign demand better endings for ME3

I in no way mean any offense to his person but after what he pulled It would really be better if he were not the person in charge of writing where the series goes from here
If someone is not good at their job you replace him with someone who is

Let's try to be fair here. Unless the Catalyst portion and/or the Normandy stranding were the only parts of the game he wrote, he also contributed to the epic awesomeness of the first 95% of the game.

I agree. Storywise, ME 3 was the best of the series... until the end.
