I hate to sound selfish, but I REALLY DO, watching my team work together to go about sabotage, lowering shield and setting up wave only to watch a vanguard go in and spam charge and nova and basically get credit for every kill even thou we were the one doing all the work for him to get even close... it has made me HATE THEM.

I know it a team effort but what the point If the guy I am playing with is going to take credit FOR EVERYTHING and get some kind of ego that he the best cause he topped the score bored by spamming the same two moves over and over...

Sorry to all the vanguard that don't do this but ya, I've had my fill.

I hate them too for this same reason. Whenever I play with one I feel useless. When I do play with one and he goes in a crowd and starts bashing everything I just kinda relax and not kill anything.

If he wants to do everything....let him.

Vanguards definitely take the fun out of the earlier waves, since everything just dies to a charge nova combo.
But once you hit the higher waves just laugh at them die while charging a Banshee

I personally don't mind a vanguard carrying me through waves 1 -5, since I can just AFK and eat lunch while raking up credits

I hate them because if someone isn't at the extraction point when the match is concluded, 95% of the time it is a vanguard.

typical experience with vanguards from games ive played with them.

1.) "ok guys, i'm the vanguard just back me up and ill kill everything cus im awesome"

2.) "guys, i'm down come revive me. oh come on, dont worry about the hordes of enemies surrounding my body and the fact im halfway across the map"

3.) "hmm, they're not coming to get me, i guess i gotta burn my medi-gel, thanks for nothing noobs!"

4.) "darn, guys im down again why aren't you reviving me? i see that you're sticking together and using superior teamwork and everything, but why leave me out?"

5.) "ok. now im dead, gotta watch the rest of the round. damn noobs!"

6.) "awesome, back in action, i'll show these jerks how to play!"

7.) " damn im down again!"

8.) "god why dont these guys work as a team, they need to rush across the entire map, ignoring all the enemies and revive me, im the vanguard. come on!"

9.) rage quit.

lol vanguards

You just need to learn how to play with them. I recently played my vanguard in a team with three infiltrators using sniper rifles. It's very difficult to be a team player in that case because as soon as you charge at a group of mobs you have to keep charging to stay alive. Ensuring that your team has LOS to your enemies becomes a challenge.

The thing with the mp game is that the most efficient way for non-vanguards to kill is to clump up and wait for the MOBs to get to them. If one person charges ahead they might be able to hold off the enemies but it'll take longer. That's why firebase... dagger? The one with a sniper's nest in the middle of the map, can be the fastest map.

I only hate when they're nearby and all the camera shaking makes it hard to aim...

Otherwise they're great! I just pick off the ones he's not targeting. There are more then enough enemies to go around...

its really not a big deal. i mean i hate vanguards for a different reason, but if you have a hard time wrapping your mind around the idea that you all share the same points and there is no such thing as credit then coop really isnt for you. it really shouldnt be enough to take the fun out of anything.

be honest, if they never showed personal stats at the end of the match nobody would care or complain. i know people are competitive in nature but its best to leave that mentality at the door when playing these kinds of games. you have a simple goal. as long as everybody makes it to the ship on wave 11 you dont have any reason to complain. its not like you could do it alone (if you could you most likely would)

there is no taking credit for anything unless the person who is playing is saying something about it, but thats not the vanguard class' fault thats just the guy being a jerk.

its really nto about them killing more than me, i do just fine. usually #1 or #2 in score with my sentinel. its that they make things harder for the team.

they go down alot, like ALOT. requiring people to go way further than they should have to in order to revive them. usually its not worth it to revive a vanguard, too risky.

ive NEVER, not ONCE, seen a vanguard help hack one of the 4 nodes, or stay in the upload area. and they are NEVER in the extraction zone.

they're not teamplayers, thats the problem. all the other classes can stick together and work great as a team, but the vanguard is always on the other side of the map getting himself killed and not helpign with objectives.

I love Dagger. They all get to snipe and the spawns conveniently clump in stasis bubble sized groups so I can try for killstreaks with lift grenades!

The problem is, co-op isn't for most Vanguards. 95% of the time the Vanguards are charging around the map leaving their team to rot. I can understand doing that in single player since your squad is mostly useless, but it's not the way to do cooperative play.

The only thing I hate about Vanguard is they tend to make the entire galaxy shake, making it impossible for my Infiltrator to line up shots properly.

I find it funny when a vanguard tries to steal my kill only to end up helping me tech burst with my turian sentinel :)

oh i agree completely but the topic was about hating vanguards because they steal kills, and thats a terrible reason.

It just depends on the people playing the class. Once you get it down, vanguards can be great assets to the team, you just have to find one that isn't retarded about the way they do things.

I personally used the drell vanguard (until the item delete bug locked him :() , the grenades they have access to are great for helping clear out a room without rushing in and getting shot in the face.

being able to charge in, drop a cluster of grenades and back flip out again is very handy when you have a teammate that is down just inside an area full of enemies, there is an objective that is swarmed, or your team just needs an extra punch to clear out a wave.   Fully charged cluster grenades can drop any non "heavy" opponents and dont have the stupid shield draining issues that nova brings with it.

Bottom Line, don't hate but... educate?

Aren't you exaggerating, just a little bit? I saw a LOT of bad/selfish/lone-wolf Vanguard players, yet I also saw many good players, that help to complete the objectives, go to the LZ when te time comes, etc. Besides, if they go down a lot, they don't know how to use the class at all.

Also, did you ever consider that maybe, just maybe, you guys are the ones that don't know how to play with a good Vanguard on the team? I played a Gold match back on the demo with 1 Vanguard, 2 Asari Adepts (one of them being me) and 1 Turian Sentinel. The Vanguard locked down half of the goddamn map every wave that didn't have any objectives, while the other three members killed the rest. Also worth noting he died 2~4 times in the entire match.

This ^^

What mostly gets on my nerves with Vanguards is the fecking noise they constantly make, it really gets annoying after a small while.

This is why I refuse to play as a Human Vanguard. I will play Drell or Asari over human any day. Are they as "OMG I is unstoppable" as a Human? No. But they at least have abilities that can help out the team. Stasis so my infiltrator buddy can get a clean headshot. Pull the shield off a guardian or Lift that little unshielded rocket trooper into the air so my buddies can get a better shot. I use the Crowd Control elements and use charge to pick off loners or move around the map.

In short, Human Vanguards *can be* obnoxious.

Then you haven't played with a good vanguard. I'm not good but I'm decent. I always got to objective first, unless I have an Infiltrator with me, then I let him/her do the hacking while cloaked while I provide backup. I always stay in the hacking zone and only charge out if I see easy prey and then I instantly run back in. I'm ALWAYS in the evac zone if it's in good defensive position, if not I'll fight mobs and get back in 20 seconds left. I also tell people who are not in the evac zone when there's 30 seconds left, then 10. I also rush to revive people on not objective missions. and if I have someone close to me and and I do a short range charge and knock the guy out I let a teammate who's behind me to finish it, while I shoot at a different target a lot of the times.

Vanguards and infiltrators are annoying to me. Not because of kills, but because they attract certain people who think that they're the center of the universe. They always expect you to back them up, but when you need help or need them to help with an objective, they're off trying to rack up kills.

Granted, there are also good players who play those classes, but in my experience the unfortunate truth is they just suck at working as a team.

Sucks you've played with ****ty Vanguards then. They are high risk high reward, and with the mechanics of the class its easy to faceplant yourself if you're too greedy. As far as clicking nodes, hacking, and getting in on extractions...that's more of a newbie mistake than a Vanguard mistake. Many people don't know (or maybe don't notice) you get a time bonus on objectives and such. I've played plenty of public matches recently (damn PSN and the 1.02 vs 1.01 patch) where I just spoke up when they weren't helping hack or w/e and normally they got on line. Kinda sucks for other classes with how Charge works, but what can you do? Try to remember the good ones and the bad ones...

lol if i play vanguard i cover my noob infiltrators. they like to camp one spot and snipe and get instadestroyed from behind on silver/gold. i watch their flanks and let them have their pew pew fun while still getting some satisfying vanguarding done. if there is something i can't destroy i turn it away from my team and start tanking it like a boss.

if i ever get downed as a vanguard i feel like i made a huge mistake since i have an ability to teleport and recharge my shields to full whilst applying cc...

my one real life friend who plays this game and me love team play and haven't been able to convince anyone else to pay the 60 dollars when they could play league of legends for free. :(

add me on the pc my origin name is veganatheist. =-D
