Someone who knows what they're doing, playing as a Krogan going on a Melee rampage can kind of have the same effect.

I Don't play Adept or Vanguard at all, Biotics isn't my thing.

I'd rather Shoot, stab and smash stuff.
Or in the Case of the Quarian Engineer, Flaming *****slap that is the melee.

I think people are mad becuz Vanguards get all the kills. My advice? Just chill. Its a co-op game. Exp is shared so why be a try-hard. You also have to realize that Vanguard is a ****** easy class. I beat Geth Gold just spamming charge->nova-nova with a level 13 Vanguard and I outscored the three other Quarian Infils on my time. If you're still feeling irritated by Vanguards topping the scoreboards, take heart in the fact that they're playing one of the more overpowered classes in multiplayer next to infiltrators

Only problem I have with them is the shaking of the screen.

@Dr. Cheezburg's post (since the quote button is being temperamental)

let me make it abundantly clear that I have absolutely no issue with vanguards who actually know what they're doing. the vanguard is the most mobile class and as such it can easily cross the map for revives, quickly take out high priority targets and so on. the issue here is that on bronze, it's far too easy to simply chaerg around with a shotgun + nova and kill everything in sight--and then, when these people take their vanguards into silver and gold, they simply get themselves killed and get their teammates into trouble trying to revive them.

Again, not every Vanguard does this.

To accuse every Vanguard of this is kind of unfair.

Bronze, Silver..Gold..it makes no difference. Whatever i charge with my Vanguard is doomed to die..except for a banshee her i don't charge untill her shield is gone..but eventually she dies just like the rest to my sweet little Nova.

I think we are talking sideways, actually I am pretty sure we are talking sideways, so I'll start from the beginning.

might I suggest that, rather than complain about people complaining, you either quit the forums or come up with something more constructive. as it is, you just look like an idiot.

This is what got me. Let me explain:

First off, as I stated in another post in here, I am aware that I am more and more sensitive and expressive regarding the Vanguard hate. I feel the need to apologize to you partially as it got the better of me during our argument. The "partially" explanation follows.

Second, and here's the explanation, I am quite frankly sick of it. The Vanguard hate I mean. Being a passionate Vanguard player (though by no means exclusively) myself and now more and more seeing this unwarranted and most awfully unfair treatment brought up against Vanguards in a most brutal generalization has rendered my patience very thin, which led to the above quoted sentence of yours to blow it. Understand it as the little drop causing the barrel to pool over. From that on, I indeed got more belligerent than appropriate, again, for that I apologize.

However, I will have to stand with my initial assessment that this whole thing is an overblown farce, probably rightfully initiated by people that had bad luck with crappy Vanguard teammates. Having played with some other players that were doing crap with their classes I know how deconstructive it can be to have such a teammate on your side ("who needs enemies when you got friends like these" ... d'uh). That early resentiment however quickly turned into something quite akin like a holy war against Vanguards as more and more people started waging this issue like some kind of divine duty to expel any and all Vanguards from multiplayer and finally turned into a fullblown cacophony of paranoia and Vanguard-phobia on a scale which I simply can not stand, with an intensity that I can not simply stand by and watch (guess that's the Vanguard charging in for the rescue, against all odds (make of that what you will, my actual playstyle is a lot more cautious!)).
As it stands, with my nowadays little patience on that matter, your honestly quite hostile ending had me exploded.

I will, unless sabotaged, always prefer engaging in civilized discussion and it occurs to me, that even though we started on the wrong foot AND talked a bit sideways, we can do just that.

For that, here my points for the discussion:

-Bad Vanguards are a liability.
-I do however not really think that any other class faring equally bad are any less a liability, it's just how you said, it's harder to play that destructively bad with those classes (most of the time at least), so I give you that one, uncontested.
-My prime concern with what I came here is that this whole "problem" is out of proportion paranoia/phobia that is, unless you run with the bad Vanguards as the standard, absolutely NOT warranted. And if one does take those bad Vanguards as the standard to measure everything by, I don't think one is actually experienced enough to qualify for that kind of judgement in the least.

Here's to having thrashed the trenches.

And to all the Vanguard haters in this thread, go suck it.

They only annoy me when I'm charging a heavy melee and they charge in and steal it. Theres no way they didn't see me charging or in the motion of a heavy melee and yet they still charge in. I get that it recharges your shields, etc but have some common respect for teammates. You don't need to charge everything.

lol if i play vanguard i cover my noob infiltrators. they like to camp one spot and snipe and get instadestroyed from behind on silver/gold. i watch their flanks and let them have their pew pew fun while still getting some satisfying vanguarding done. if there is something i can't destroy i turn it away from my team and start tanking it like a boss.

if i ever get downed as a vanguard i feel like i made a huge mistake since i have an ability to teleport and recharge my shields to full whilst applying cc...

my one real life friend who plays this game and me love team play and haven't been able to convince anyone else to pay the 60 dollars when they could play league of legends for free. :(

add me on the pc my origin name is veganatheist. =-D

I think I played a match or two with you in some random game. You are indeed a fine vanguard. Friend request sent.

@topic: I don't care if vanguards are rocking the planet as long as they get the job done. It's not the class as much as it is the player that can make or break a game. Kill steals (lol) are fine by me if it means one less enemy to deal with later on.

Most vanguard players end up killing themselves or MIA. Its annoying, but I can deal with it. A few of them are actually pretty good.

i have to think there is a certain flare about the class that makes them a little more selfish than other classes.

You can be a completely team oriented Vanguard and you'll end up at the top of the score board and people will complain about kill stealing. And that's what people are complaining about here.

The only thing I dislike about them is when they die in the middle of nowhere and you have to run out to save them

I'm rather conservative as a vanguard, if I can I'll pick my targets carefully. Honestly on the higher difficulties, barriers go down fast, and my first inclination as a vanguard with no barriers is to charge the first thing that lights up on my targeting.

I play as a vanguard, I always hack nodes if someone else doesn't, I always stay in the control point (well, as long as we don't get over run) I also always stay in the extraction zone. I'm a team player and help out where I can.

Yes, I charge brutes, banshees, atlas's, phantoms and primes BECAUSE it takes the heat off my team, who have the fire power and abilities to give them hell. Charge, nova, roll backwards works a treat against these guys, I've only been man handled a few times on silver, haven't tried gold yet so I don't know if it will still work or not?! When I do go down,(which is very rare, I have a surplus of medi-gel) it's my own fault, but at least I'm near my team when it happens!

Please stop your generalisation.

Generalizing isn't wrong when it's generally correct, and most Vanguards play like they think they can defeat anything and constantly steal kills. When I play as a Vanguard, I make a conscious effort to let many kills that I could take slip through the cracks for other people to rack up. They end up feeling more confident, and that helps them play better.

First of all, most of the time, if I'm upset at someone it's because they DIDN'T contribute, or they DIDN'T make it to the LZ in time.  I'm in the top 2 most of the time but if I'm 3rd or 4th, then im ecstatic, that means our team kicked a**.  If you're a Vanguard you are expected to do what a Vanguard does.  If you're an engineer, soldier etc, then you are expected to do what they do.  The first day I played the game when the Demo was released I said something about Vanguards tearing everything up and getting most of the kills.  I realized that it doesnt matter.  It's a team effort.. if you're bringin health down and vanguards finish everyone off and everyone survives and makes it to the LZ, then be happy knowing you heavily contributed and that you guys played a good team game.  It's called complementing eachothers abilities. Hold on, you say you let kills slip through the cracks for other people?  That's insane, kill when you can... the enemy you don't kill can end up being the enemy to kill a squadmate.

Play a Deathmatch game somewhere else if you want to do nothing but compete.

I can't count the times when I'm lining up a Mantis shot only to see this blue Charge streak smash through my crosshairs, carrying a couple of enemies with it.

I play as a Drell Vanguard and don't play like that. Or at least i dont take all of the kills and expect to be revived. I just accept my death because i dont get all that much health or shields.

Generally I find it's only the Human Vanguards that play that way, and only half of them. If you've got a Vanguard in lobby and feel this strongly about it, just bail out if they're human. Asari and Drell Vanguards generally have more self-control... and you won't be holding the revive button over them the entire game.

LOL....

I favor my sniper infiltrator at the moment, and I -used- to feel as you do. Now, when I see waves 1-3 dominated by a Vanguard that jumps away from his team all the time, I lol.

I lol because I know that when the waves start getting intense, and the priority targets (notably brutes/banshees and the occasional ravager) start showing up all at once, I'll get my chance to shine.

Just last game, a decent but trigger happy Van jumped around and stole most of the kills the first few waves. Prolly felt pretty good. It felt even better to smoke him on long-range kills and 3-shotting hulks.

I used to hate them. Now they have their place, as I have mine. XD
