Why did bioware do this in the first place? Let's see, the result is that I'm logged in for hours and hours while I play...that is the ONLY difference. I think bioware does it so they can have access to my system and my info. I think its criminal and I won't say what I want to say about it because my post would be deleted.

It's to reduce the impact of piracy and second hand game sales. Obviously publishers/developers prefer it if you buy a copy brand new, rather than getting a pirated one or second hand one, so they make online passes that can only be redeemed once and are only available when you buy a brand new copy of the game. If you buy the game second hand, or even worse, get a pirate version, you have to pay for an online pass seperately in order to access the online content that you'd normally get for free with a new copy. It's a way for EA/bioware to recoup some of the loss from second hand sales & pirating. It's also legal, otherwise they wouldn't be able to do it en-masse like they are doing (with multiple game titles, not just ME).

Also, the Galaxy Map is connected to and relates to multiplayer. I'm sure i don't need to explain why you need to be logged in to the servers in order to use a multiplayer feature. If you don't want to be logged in because your worried about EA/bioware having access to your system, then log out - you don't need the galaxy map if your just playing single player.

Finally, this thread is for people with genuine problems with their online passes. If you want to get your tinfoil hat on and complain about bioware, do it somewhere else - the more random junk that fills threads like this, the more likely it is that someone with a legit problem will be missed.

Speaking of legit problems - is anyone from bioware still taking notice of this thread? It's been a few days now with no answer to those of us who are still having issues with the online pass. I'm beginning to think pestering people with PMs might be a better way to get it sorted.

Edit: got mine working now, finally! Hopefully it'll be sorted soon for anyone else still with issues.

Online pass problems would be a separate issue and you should contact EA technical support for that. That being said how were you able to fix yours?

I still can't access the map. I visited the page suggested and it says I have the correct ME3 profile.

I didn't know this forum was ONLY for people with problems with online passes. I only knew the game wouldn't let my readiness rating got more than 50% and the map was always offline. And I commented since that's what other people were talking about and the title does not specify otherwise.

And, if the galaxy map relates only to multiplayer, WHY doesn't it say that in my single player game....

and if the reason for forcing us to be logged in is to prevent piracy, there could be a one time connection. They don't need to have me logged in ALL the time.

As it turned out, i'd missed that there were two codes supplied with the collectors edition. They're both on the same flyer that comes in the box, but the one at the top (the one that activates the online pass) is easily missed if your like me and skim read. That might help for anyone who's got the CE and can't access the map because of the online pass, they could have just put in the code for From Ashes thinking it would also activate the online pass.

A couple of other things i tried were the link you posted and making sure that my origin account was the same one that was connected to my xbox live account. I found the thing about the origin account here - social.bioware.com/page/account-help

This was all with a view of getting my online pass working - the galaxy map not working was just a symptom of that alongside inability to access multiplayer etc. For people who have got their online passes working but can't get their galaxy map to work properly, it might not be of much help.

Sorry, my bad - i was getting mixed up because i was skipping between this thread and one that links to it about the online pass trying to sort mine out. I should have been more specific to this thread and said it is for people with problems with the galaxy map, rather than lumping all the problems into one comment.

Sounds like you do have a problem with your galaxy map, if it's offline and stuck at 50% all the time. Even if it comes online though, it won't go above 50% unless you do multiplayer. You didn't mention that problem in your original post, which is why i said that this isn't really the place to bring up the concerns that you had.

The piracy thing is more to do with the online pass than anything else - not really relevant if it's just a Galaxy At War map issue. However, I still think the rest of your issues are better off in a new thread. The lack of in-game explanation of how the Galaxy At War map works might well be a valid point, but it'd be better off brought up in a thread about that, rather than one that's specifically about the map not working.

I have had this problem since Friday I don't play MP and my GoW shows 0% and I have tried everything to fix it. Have talk to Xbox support and EA support for the last 2 days and I am told its a problem on BW end and only you can fix it. Shows I do have a personna created.

I am trying to access the map and I am still having a problem, but it seems to be different than ones posted here.

What I do: I click on the Galaxy at War image on the home page. It takes me to my profile to activate online profile. I click the link. It wants me to confirm my password. But, when I click continue, it just keeps coming back to the password entry.

I have checked and double checked my password and it still does not work. I use the latest Firefox on Mac OSX Lion. I have even tried to do this on Safari. I have tried the link supplied in this thread and it says i have the proper persona.

Any thoughts?

storyman2k, try changing your password. Some people have reported that as fixing the problem you're having.

I have a persona and I can even look at my Galaxy at War map on this website but it doesn't load in the game, multiplayer works besides this. What's up?

So I briefly looked through the first page of posts and based on what you posted as a fix, I am still having an issue with the system being offline. On top of this, I have downloaded and used the Datapad app that is available but it has not changed the status of my map in game.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Okay, I checked the site and it said yes I have registered and everything, however it says system offline: unable to retrieve galaxy at war status. Can you help me, I want to make sure that I get the ending that I want and my efforts dont go to waste. I have already promoted 3 characters. (ODD NOTE: even though it is saying system offline it is still showing my main log in screen of galactic readiness which is 95%) Please help me.........issue same as iamthemanstan and vaffka, so more then one person
