I agree, this is much more like what I expected. I wanted to see the war assets mean something, even just a little more would have been nice.

pretty much any ending you can think of is better than the one they gave us...

I have to agree, that would have been a satisfying conclusion.

The battle description is fabulous, though I'll be honest, I wouldn't have liked this ending any better, over all, than the three I have now. There's still no follow through, there's still no living Shep, the Normandy has still disappeared.
But ignore those comments from me, really, just seeing this battle would have moved me to tears, instead of leaving me feeling empty.
Nice job!

SPREAD THIS ENDING AROUND!!! NOWWWW!!!
It was always a risk that Shepard wouldn't make it. I for one am okay with Shepard in the martyr role. A happy ending would be nice for say my Paragon FemShep to have a happy, but that's not a necessity to me.
What is is an ending that makes sense. I read this alternate on deviantart earlier today and it would have been one helluva an ending. So thank you for writing it.

Yeah...this ending would be nice! More depth, and clarity. More sense. Just leave some room for choice...die the tragic hero...or live the hero returns...with LI ;-)

Umm, that was definitely not the quote I was going for >.>
Somebody said "Shepard might still not make it."

This would be a perfect ending, also leads more emphasis on your total military strength.

Yeah, i mean why would you get all these war assets if you can't do nothing with them?Keletian2 wrote...

Ok, so first off, let me say that I liked what Bioware TRIED to do with the ending, I just think it was handled soul-crushingly poorly. SO, I decided while I was bored this morning at breakfast I wanted to try rewriting it to flesh it out some/ try and make sense of it/ give it one other add-on. I know alot of people demand a happy ending, and I don't need that. I'm fine with sad, it made me sad. I just want it to make more sense.
I agree 100%
I have no problems with a tragic ending, even if my Shepard dies. What infuriated me is that the aftermath was completely null - it RUINED the drama behind the idea of sacrificing yourself. No aftermath about the fight, squadmates, races, cities, planets, etc. I stood there for nearly half an hour completely conflicted in awe about this epic final choice - and then raged at how dry the epilogue of that choice was
I really hope Bioware realizes the REAL reason the ending sucked. If they do fix it, I don't want a "Shepard lived, there you go".

The Reapers losing to convential methods would be worse than the endings we have already.

The mere presence of the catalyst destroys the mass effect 1 story, where the reapers needed the geth to open up the citadel. The catalyst could have done it by himself and allowed the reapers to pour through, but that didn't happen.
I propose that they do away with the catalyst as being the controller of the reapers and the citadel. Make him something else.
