I understand Shepard hearing his/her own voice while listening to the kid.
But what's the logic behind the voice having the other sex mixed in there as well?

I'd probably say it's a way to have gender neutral 'deity' figures. There are cultures that believe in a female Goddess, some believe in a male God etc. By having a voice that echoes in all of them, it can embody every incarnation. But maybe that's me getting existential on you.

My gut is they just wanted it to sound more "god-like" so they used echoey male and female voices as backing, and those two were still in the studio recording and available. /sigh

That's what I'm thinking.

Hahaha, I was going to say the same thing ... I could only get through a few seconds of the actual dialogue. It just bummed me out too much.

So the best outcome for the reapers, is the middle choice. The one anderson attacks, seems to be the one the reapers like the least. and that option is filled with alot of damaging prohecies for the galaxy, if Shep choses it.

As did I. I also found it out yesterday when I was replaying the ME3 ending.

Anyone knows if those scenes are in-engine with dubbing from an external audio file or are they bik files? Wonder if we could try to separate the audio tracks.

Well I play Mass Effect on Xbox 360 so a tech-savvy PC player should really try this out and see if this is possible!

Because I'm a game-designer. I replayed it in the hope I could understand the ending from a designer perspective. I tried to study the ending and analyze it. Tthat's when I heard Shepard's voice in the Catalyst's voice.

PS: I honestly still haven't figured out what the hell BioWare was thinking when they designed this ending. Even when I try to put my fanboy-side away and only try to look at it from a designer's perspective, I still really don't see what the hell is up with these endings.

You can hear male Shepard too if you listen carefully to your right speaker. His voice is a lot lower in pitch so it sounds softer, but it's clearly there.

I can hear the female voice, but the male one is quiet.
It's still hard to make out, but it fits in with the dream theory.

My god I hear it, I HEAR IT!
I never caught that on my first playthrough, and i probably wouldn't have ever since I wasn't likely to replay the ending again.

I hear it too, could be just for effect though. Also, the voices could have come from cut content. Maybe god-kid was supposed to be ghost-Shep, but went with the kid instead and they just decided to use the audio they paid for. /shrug

While the "it was all a dream/indoctrination" theory sounds like simple desperation, its definitely not a stretch. The Shep "lives" scene is the key to it all, unless it was a cruel joke.

Try to listen really carefully to the right speaker. It helps if you have a headphone. The male Shepard voice really is there, I'm absolutely sure about it because I can clearly hear it myself and other have said they can hear it too.

I would say the plot thickens, except if it doesnt make any sense. It has to be added just for the cool factor.

Because why would the shep voice for the sex you aren't be in there? If it is a dream or the reapers messing with him what ever. There is only one shep. In what ever universe you are other sex one doesnt exist so adding their voice makes no sense.

You can clearly hear Male shep at the complete end of the kid's speech at 4:20, 4:46, 4:55.

Yep, OP is saying the darn truth. Fem shep voice is easily perceived though.

Probably a sound effect just to make the voice sounds more creepy / surreal as per the kid itself. I don't think there is any deeper meaning behind this, you guys are overthinking.... i mena.. err it would be nice to have something behind this but i don't want to let my hope hang dry!

Unless it is a convergence of two different realities... and yellow space magic.
