I think IF we're correct that is, the reason for this is consistency.  Keep it consistent in both gender stories.  Either way you look at it.  The voice speaking to Shepard, IS Shepard.  I think that's the huge factor in this.

It is interesting proof of the indoctrination theory. I just hope if that theory holds true it doesn't become the norm in the game industry to release a game with a nonsensical ending and then say it was intentional and change it later.

I think they used both voices at the same time because otherwise the difference would be too obvious. If femShep would only hear the female echo and manShep would only hear the male echo, it would be waaaaaay to obvious. By using both at the same time, the effect is more subtile and less obvious to notice.

Yes, you're right. Our mistake. It's indeed Samantha Traynor. It was Jacob who's last name was Taylor, not Samantha. But I understood that Mini Jo was talking about Samantha.

No, in real-life you would not be able to hear the explosions in space. But Mass Effect does not obey real-life physics and you always hear sound in every space scene in Mass Effect. This has always been so, since ME1.

This has been known since the endings were leaked prior to release. Personally I don't think there's anything to it. They tried to go the cliche kid-in-power route, and added some effects to its voice to make it sound more mysterious. Terribly hollow at the end of the day though.
