Awesome, good catch!

Got me thinking.. Maybe the whole reasoning of us being able to continue playing after Shep's death, is because they plan to release DLC, altering the ending.  and by "resetting" us prior to TIM base assault., this gives us a way to replay, and get DLC ending without starting a new game? Or something to that effect. Also, that would explain Stargazers last comment, to an extent anyhow.

I'm probably grasping at straws here, but suffice to say, so does the entire indoctrination theory, however likely it's starting to appear. Threads like these gives me hope again =P Let's just hope we don't get our hopes' up for nothing.

Weird. I hear it.

Speaking of sound, is it plausible that we would be able to hear the explosions from the space battle while in the citadel?

No, in real-life you would not be able to hear the explosions in space. But Mass Effect does not obey real-life physics and you always hear sound in every space scene in Mass Effect. This has always been so, since ME1.

Thanks :)

For all what's worth, they could have had any other VO's- coincidently it's both the voice actors for Shepard. Come on, don't be so delusional.

This has been known since the endings were leaked prior to release. Personally I don't think there's anything to it. They tried to go the cliche kid-in-power route, and added some effects to its voice to make it sound more mysterious. Terribly hollow at the end of the day though.

But why Shepard's voice? Why not simply using an echo-effect or perhaps a simple digital audio effect? You can easily create a haunting voice with a simple effect layer. But what BioWare did is anything  but simple. They actually recorded the same sequences THREE times, first by the kid voice-actor, then by Mark Meer and finally by Jeniffer Hale.

Why would BioWare take the effort to record this 3 times by 3 different voice-actors, if they only wanted to add a cool echo effect, which they could also have done with a simple digital filter? Why taking all the effort to add manShep's and femShep's voice to that of the Catalyst instead?

Creepy, can't believe I didn't notice that before. I was probably too busy dribbling over my keyboard because of the mental gymnastics this scene presented me with.

On a more positive note, I loved the visuals and the music was brilliant, very fitting, tranquil and mysterious.

Anyone expecting a DLC like Lonesome Road of Fallout: New Vegas? Fulll of expeculations and theorys? This is getting even more intersting and soo far Bioware dind't talked about the ending.

The hits do not not stop. I never wanted to hear Shepard says those things.

I definitely just think they added layering to make the voice more impressive, but it is interesting that of all the voice actors they could use to do that they picked what has to be the two most recognizable to players due to the sheer volume of dialogue you hear from them. If it was unimportant I definitely would avoid using those two.

While I'd love to say this supports the "Indoctrination Theory", hell, I wish that was the actual ending... I can't help but think of Occam's Razor.

The simplest explanation is they did it because it sounds "neat".

What is interesting is that they used 3 different actual voice-actors for the layer effect, while the same effect could also be created with a simple software effect. Just copy the voice, lower the pitch. Copy the voice again, higher the pitch. Add an echo to it and you have basically the same effect.

But instead of creating this effect the easy way, BioWare actually took the effort to record the lines of the Catalyst THREE times by THREE different voice-actors. TWO of those voice-actors are Shepard's voice (maleShep and femShep)!

Makes you think... doesn't it?

This is nothing more then them ripping off the Borg voice. The endings we got is what they are.

I don't think this is proof of anything with some "indoctrination" other than that Bioware thought it would be cool to have the two voice actors do the voice. I mean why would you hear Femshep's voice if you're male Shep when Femshep doesn't exist in your game?

I kinda knew this from the start. I knew I heard Jen's voice, but didnt know for sure if all 3 were there.

On my first (and last) playthrough it was all I could really concetrate on, i was like "Is there a chick's voice in this thing?".

Horry morry... there are indeed parts where you can hear Mark and Jennifer left/right.

But it might be they just asked Mark/Jennifer to add their voices to these lines to give it a spookier effect, without it having any meaning.

True. After some concentration, I could hear the voices in individual earphone.
