Considering that they've almost eliminated accidental pregnancies in the Mass Effect Universe for Humans to control the overpopulation issue, I think that means that Jacob and Lady Hawk's voice planned on having a kid. Jacob won't talk about why he and Miranda are no longer dating at the start of ME2 and in LotSB you learn Miranda had a test done to check her fertility though it's not a dated entry. I think what Jacob wanted was a kid. He leaves a Shepard that romanced him because FemShep is too busy flying around trying to save the galaxy to give him a family. And he probably doesn't want to go the stay at home dad route either. Or in Shepard's case, stay on the ship dad.

I romanced Jacob on my first playthrough of ME2. Then after that "priiize" line I played again, romanced Garrus and made sure Jacob died in the suicide mission...

I sympathize sooo much with the Jacobmancers. The way his arc was handled was the stupidest thing ever. Yes, LI should be able to have other relationships but dude, there's fairness and there's facepunching. Out of the blue, while Shepard is imprisoned for saving the galaxy again, he hooks up with another girl and gets her pregnant.

Way to faithful. Very classy, Bioware.

I think it's kind of unfair people just assume nobody romanced Jacob and therefore it's all right or even welcome that a love interest can cheat. I found him just as cringe-worthy as most people here, but he does/did have some fans. I'd love to see if there would be any people saying, "Oh, it's just fair, Shepard can dump people, too" if, say... Tali had moved on.

I like the fact that one of the LI strayed, but there should be an option to win them back. Even with the bay...it would have made for some cool dialogue and the player choosing if they want Jacob back or not after what happend.

I think most people would be fine with this option.  In fact, it could very well have been epic if done right!
Of course, the "She's pregnant." part would really be a nail in the coffin....

I had my femshep romance Jacob purely for the trophy. Although I wouldn't have romanced him at all if I knew he was going to dump femshep so casually.

I would have romanced Garrus (because hes awesome) but my femshep is a human only girl and there wasn't anyone else to choose from since I chose Ashley over Kaiden...

Anyway, Garrus found love with Tali, so it all worked out well in the end.

Ya know, I think that's completely valid.  The real man thing to do was not to get involved in the first place and tell her that.  Or contact her and say that.  But to get involved with someone else and have a baby without telling Shepard until she shows up is beyond cowardly.

I didn't romance Jacob and pretty much felt neutral in regard to his character, but it was more because I thought he was obviously meant to be the programmer's attempt at a beefcakey option for the ladies (to counterbalance those 100 shots of Miranda's ***? *sigh* I don't know...). His loyalty mission was cra-zazy in a goodweird way, but I LMFAO at the YouTube videos of his romance scene. For reals, dude!?

Anyway, if it had been Garrus, I would have punched a hole in my monitor, so I do feel bad for those that romanced him.

I like the fact that not ALL of the LIs are loyal to you.

I truly despise using the word 'realistic' to qualify or disqualify anything in games, but really that's what it is.

Not all romances work out, not everyone is faithful (in fact A LOT people AREN'T).

I am just surprised there hasn't been a 'zomg black man cheats on you' racist lashback.

My heart goes out to all the Jacobmancers out there, it really does. Jacob's story works fine if he wasn't in a romance, but if he was in a romance then it just paints him in a really bad light, imo. The scenes I've seen on youtube also seem to suggest that Shep can't properly call him or Brynn out on it, either.

So, yeah. Jacobmancers, I'm so sorry you got shafted. Nobody deserved the dismissal of their LI like that, and considering the fact that hetero Femshep can only pick between two guys in the end (presuming Kaiden is the VS), this is salt in the wound.

Might agree with you if there were others.  Maybe Tali should have moved on, too.  Tali only hooks up with Garrus IF she's not involved with Shepard.  But as it stands, Jacob is the ONLY LI that you can't reunite with.

Chances are the same people that hooked up with Jacob already hooked up with someone else in ME1.

If there were others, it might have been too much for the fans to handle. That's probably also why they picked the least popular character to do this with.
