Jacob's not a douche. He was your nice-guy from ME2. A bit bland to me, but a nice dude. Having him hook up with someone else without breaking up with Shepard first is just Not Cool, man.

Exactly. For people who took the time to know him, he was a very honorable and commited character, and the only one who asked femShep how she felt about everything. Also, he told her that he loved her. My personal opinion? They made him completely out of character for ME3 because so many people disliked him.

Just imagine the rage if that was done to Tali or Liara. But no, since it's Jacob, it's okay? He's a black man, so he must automatically be a player that bones every woman within reach, right? :pinched:

There's just so much to be disappointed about in ME3...

I haven't romanced Jacob, but I think as long as they included special dialogue with the two talking about how things were, then that's fine. As a Jack romancer, I sort of know how they feel, but personally, even though I know that the romance was generally the same, it was still referenced and the ending to her arc was pitch-perfect...

Now if Jacob completely ignored the romance, that's kind of ****ty by Bioware

I sympathize sooo much with the Jacobmancers. The way his arc was handled was the stupidest thing ever. Yes, LI should be able to have other relationships but dude, there's fairness and there's facepunching. Out of the blue, while Shepard is imprisoned for saving the galaxy again, he hooks up with another girl and gets her pregnant.

Way to faithful. Very classy, Bioware.

Chances are the same people that hooked up with Jacob already hooked up with someone else in ME1.

What comes around GOES around.

My femShep romanced Jacob and only Jacob. Not anyone from ME1, so yeah, way to generalize.

You've gotta be one in a million.

How did you get past Kaiden and fall for Jacob??

Jacob was Kaiden with a different character model + daddy issues. Hell even the other characters in the game talk about how much of a 'blank slate' Jacob is as a character.

I don't think doing this to Jacob because he may or may not be a popular LI makes it justifiable. They didn't do that to any of the others. I thought the Tali/Garrus romance was really cute, but only if Tali or Garrus weren't already involved.

Probably less to do with his color of skin than the fact that he was one of the lowest romanced / least popular squadies.

He basically out of the blue tells Shepard that he's with someone else now.

Yes, that's the only reason I even considered romancing him, lol. But he ended up being way too boring. No romances for me in 2.

Personally I always counted Horizon as the virmire survivor breaking off the relationship if they were romanced in me1. Liara it's tricky to say since she pretty much frenches the hell out of you before pulling away.

Buuuutt Jacob on the other hand could not be any more stereotypical. Hell even Brynn ending up pregnant could come off as female black stereotype.

Also with the LotSB DLC you can resume the Liara romance.

I'm one of those weird women who roleplays. I made a Shepard just for Jacob. ;) Kaidan has several Shepards of his own, and I find Kaidan and Jacob's personalities to be like night and day. Kaidan is a lot more introverted and analytical with a very wry sense of humor. Jacob is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get plain speaking person, who doesn't sugarcoat anything.

Did you romance Kaidan and Jacob? I don't find very much similar between them, other than the fact that they were both men of integrity. Well....before Jacob suffered from character assassination anyway.

I was already committed to Kaidan.  I thought Jacob was a nice guy.  Because my Shepard shot him down, I was really happy initially that he found someone.  But I thought that only happened if Shepard wasn't in a romance with him.  In my newest ME2 playthrough, it's really hard to look at him as a nice guy.

I wish ME2 had an option to toss people out the airlock.

Jacob and Miranda would last about as long as it took to get out of the Cerberus Base for me. ;)

I wondered how it would result in ME3 for my femshep so .. played safe (no romance in ME1 or ME2) and wow .. they didn't just not improve it but went the other direction and ruined it ..

That leaves Kaidan, Garrus, .. or Liara .. as lifetime partners for femshep. Emphasis on lifetime for Thane fans ... then again with the current endings might as well be ~

Maybe he was just saying all that stuff to get in Shepards pants.  douches do that.  I mean look who he was raised by.  I do like that it is true to life though, as far as people being jerks sometimes.  (It is kind of unfortunate that it follows a stereotype though)

Hey I was pissed at ash in the second game, and until she came around in the 3rd I honestly was thinking of dumping her for being down all the time.  I mean I appreciated that the Cerberus thing took some time, but ever notice that she basically stays by herself in the normandy and only interacts with the humans, vega being the one i can remember.  I think she is still kind of a speciesest.  Plus it is so clear that Laira loves you in the game.  At the end of
the shadow broker if you don't respond to her advances she is so clearly
upset.  I forget what the line was but her kind of sad look is so well done, you can just see that she wants you to tell her you love her.

Would have been cool if Jack has sabotaged her romance people who are troubled like her do in real life alot.

My male shep is happy for jacob.
My male shep thinks it was nice for bioware to add some realism to the relationships. Sometimes its not meant to be.

Fem shep left jacob for half a year! Other women move in and so it goes.

I suppose the evidence was always there that he was a bit of a player. I guess after bedding Miranda and then Femshep he probably felt nothing could resist him. Wouldn't surprise me if he did Kasumi as well.

He's a douche regardless though. Not wanting to get involved in the actual fighting. He may as well said "I'm a lover not a fighter". I doubt I'd ever play as a fem shep and if I had I'd never have romanced him anyway, but I still think if I was to bother playing the Trilogy again, he won't make it to ME3.

Race shouldnt have anything to do with it. This is a stigma against men in general. Look at jersey shore. Look at tiger woods. Look at bill clinton. Hell look at chris hansen!

Men are steriotyped to have no control when it comes to women

I have romanced Jacob with several FemShep's. I really like his character. Ok, they wanted him to cheat, fine...

At least let me roleplay with it. This could have been pretty interesting, would your FemShep take him back? Ash and Kaidan takes you back if you "moved on". Nope, can't do any such roleplaying stuff.

Now it is basically the following.

Me playing FemShep: Jacob my LI, I am soo glad to finally find you
Jacob: Oh... didn't think I would see you again, I got a new girl by the way.
New Girl: Hi!! I'm the Cerberus-Scientist who stole your man, plz save my life *trollface*

Why the eff do I HAVE to save that woman's life. I don't care that she is worth 25 war assets, I don't want Brynn's assets anywhere near my Crucible. But you can't go away. I mainly play paragon, but if I played renegade I would damn well not save her life after she tells me that she has stolen my man and that he is better of with her. There would be a crater perhaps... when I'm done with the planet.

Not to mention that on the next convo in the hospital Jacob mentions that they will name the baby after you... Thanks man. That didn't hurt at all...

Im not mad at jacob for doing what he felt was best. Fem shep needs to get over it imo.

Dont bring up tali or liara leaving shep..they have been around since me1.

Now if it was miranda I would say the same thing. Male shep would need to get over it

Closest we can get is letting them die in the suicide run.  I don't think I could actually go through with it.  Ahh well.

I found it a teensy bit racist, otherwise it didn't bother me. I was more annoyed with the fact that Bioware gave BroShep way more romance options (I'm talking Paramour achievemenst) than FemShep, and BroShep had way more hetero options then FemShep.
BroShep had 6 hetero options (Liara, Ashley, Tali, Miranda, Jack and Kelly) and 2 ****** options (Steve and Kaidan) whereas FemShep had 2 hetero options (Kaidan and Garrus) and 3 lesbian options (Liara, Samantha and Kelly). And depending on how you played previous games, FemShep might not have any hetero options (killed Kaidan in ME1, and got Garrus killed in the SM, or didn't romance him). Even though FemShep got some advertising dollars thrown at her she certainly didn't get treated fairly in the romance department, either that or BioWare's assuming that the only people who played as FemShep were male players who wanted to indulge in lesbian fantasies, at least that's how I see it.

Unfortunately, while you can kill jacob off very easily, Miranda is very difficult to kill. :(
