Not to mention that on the next convo in the hospital Jacob mentions that they will name the baby after you... Thanks man. That didn't hurt at all...

When I found out that scene plays out exactly the same no matter what, I was like, wow.  That is awful.

Chances are the same people that hooked up with Jacob already hooked up with someone else in ME1.

What comes around GOES around.

My femShep romanced Jacob and only Jacob. Not anyone from ME1, so yeah, way to generalize.

You've gotta be one in a million.

Now we're two "in a million." Not that this should have any bearing on how out of character ME3 Jacob was written.

I found it a teensy bit racist, otherwise it didn't bother me. I was more annoyed with the fact that Bioware gave BroShep way more romance options (I'm talking Paramour achievemenst) than FemShep, and BroShep had way more hetero options then FemShep.
BroShep had 6 hetero options (Liara, Ashley, Tali, Miranda, Jack and Kelly) and 2 ****** options (Steve and Kaidan) whereas FemShep had 2 hetero options (Kaidan and Garrus) and 3 lesbian options (Liara, Samantha and Kelly). And depending on how you played previous games, FemShep might not have any hetero options (killed Kaidan in ME1, and got Garrus killed in the SM, or didn't romance him). Even though FemShep got some advertising dollars thrown at her she certainly didn't get treated fairly in the romance department, either that or BioWare's assuming that the only people who played as FemShep were male players who wanted to indulge in lesbian fantasies, at least that's how I see it.

I don't understand this at all.  Bioware did a great job with this in Dragon Age.

Maybe he was just saying all that stuff to get in Shepards pants.  douches do that.  I mean look who he was raised by.  I do like that it is true to life though, as far as people being jerks sometimes.  (It is kind of unfortunate that it follows a stereotype though)

Then why did they establish his character as being nothing like his father in ME2, and a man of integrity? Stereotyping of black men is odious, and it certainly seems that is what they've done with Jacob's character.

Hey I was pissed at ash in the second game, and until she came around in the 3rd I honestly was thinking of dumping her for being down all the time.  I mean I appreciated that the Cerberus thing took some time, but ever notice that she basically stays by herself in the normandy and only interacts with the humans, vega being the one i can remember.  I think she is still kind of a speciesest.  Plus it is so clear that Laira loves you in the game.  At the end of
the shadow broker if you don't respond to her advances she is so clearly
upset.  I forget what the line was but her kind of sad look is so well done, you can just see that she wants you to tell her you love her.

Would have been cool if Jack has sabotaged her romance people who are troubled like her do in real life alot.

I doubt many Jackmancers would have appreciated that. The point is, no other character received the kind of treatment that Jacob (and also Thane) got in ME3. No. Other. Character.

Jack romance can be continued.
Miranda romance can be continued.
Tali and Liara can be continued.

Every maleShep romance can be continued AND there is also a new romanceable character for him to get cozy with. Gross inequality is gross inequality.

Shall we slap an artistic integrity disclaimer over romances too?

If I were a heterosexual girl who romanced Jacob, I'd probably be very dissatisifed.

I mean, it was bad enough to know that Liara, who just lost me, was stranded on some planet with Joker, who just lost EDI. Oh, and Javik was there too.

Yeeeeah you can only kill Miranda if she's not loyal when you take her to human reaper. Then her plot armor wears out.

Though it kinda makes you wonder if the reason things ended between him, and Miranda was due to her being barren.

Bleh! Jacob... cant think of a crew member I liked less in this entire series. The real sad part about him was you got him at the beginning of ME2 and he never got interesting. They had pretty much an entire game to make him awesome in some way.

Yeah, we all get hosed in the end.  Kaidan was my LI, and I considered Liara to be my best girlfriend.  Now they are repopulating Gilligan's Island and I'm trapped under rubble.  Thanks, guys.

Jacob's not a douche. He was your nice-guy from ME2. A bit bland to me, but a nice dude. Having him hook up with someone else without breaking up with Shepard first is just Not Cool, man.

Exactly. For people who took the time to know him, he was a very honorable and commited character, and the only one who asked femShep how she felt about everything. Also, he told her that he loved her. My personal opinion? They made him completely out of character for ME3 because so many people disliked him.

Just imagine the rage if that was done to Tali or Liara. But no, since it's Jacob, it's okay? He's a black man, so he must automatically be a player that bones every woman within reach, right? :pinched:

There's just so much to be disappointed about in ME3...

I tried a playthrough once without romancing Liara (romanced Tali)... but those blue puppydog eyes were too much, I couldnt do it. ;)

Funny story, what I played my main Shepard (male shepard) didn't really like Liara in first game, I found her too young, however that scene in LOTSB.

www.youtube.com/watch

4:06 on when she helps you up and you immediately go to help the other team memeber her reaction is like priceless.  Her little shrug, she is just like "why doesn't he kiss me" as she puts her head down.  Great acting for a videogame.  Anyway I was very tempted at that moment to dump Ash after her being a jerk and all.  I was happy to have a second Shepard that is for sure.

LOTSB is the highlight of the series for me.

In light of the lack of straight romances for femshep, I guess they really should have found a way to keep him loyal to Shepard if she romanced him.

Having said that, I would've thought less of him for it if he was all like "well I ignored the feelings I had for this girl and instead just held out on some blind hope that I'll see you again, even as you were locked up on Earth while it got hit by the reapers." OTOH, I think more of him now for showing some actual human emotion, and certainly don't hold it over him for being rational and moving on instead.

Well I agree but I think it should have been more romances don't work out like in real life.  If Ash had not been able to get over the Cerberus thing I would have been pissed but I would have excepted it as realistic.

Now the ending is a whole nother story.  :pinched:

I agree with everyone who says femShep got totally shafted in the romance department.
So do most of the female characters in SWTOR.

So I guess the Dragon Age teams likes us girls the best.

But to be more on topic - I hated Jacob, so I thought it was hilarious that he cheated on you if you romanced him. But yea, now that people have pointed out how limited femShep's options are (I hadn't really noticed since I was hardcore Kaiden), I do think it was unfair of Bioware to have 2 of femShep romances from ME2 fail (death or cheating), but all of male Shepard's succeed.

MORE GENDER EQUALITY!

Hmm. My Gilligan's Planet consisted of Joker, Kaidan and Vega. Looks like there will be no repopulating going on in my universe. =]

I bet he'd tap Shepard again if not for his new fling being pregnant. His whole father issue thing stops him, though he was obviously tempted.

Why should the ending be another story? To me, it's exactly the same thing. Do you play video game romances so you can experience heartbreak and failure? I certainly don't. I want victory and I want a HEA with my love interest. If manShep had to go through the same thing, okay. I wouldn't like it, but it would be equal and I could deal. The treatment is not the same, and that's my chief complaint.

Idk Jacob is probably the most realistic guy to pull this off with. I mean he even tells you that he and Miranda didn't work out because of him and she deserves a better man then he is. ( at least thats what he told my MaleShep ) So i guess i wasn't really suprised by that.
