My first was an Elf Mage, mostly primal spec with some CC and some heal. Good aligned. Had Morrigan, Alistair and Leliana with me.

On my second playthrough now, Human Rogue Archer evil aligned with Zevran, Morrigan and Sten in the group.

I have to say, the mage is incredibly powerful, however I'm having much more fun with this character and this team set-up I have.

So to sum up, I love having a mage in my group and taking control of it often, however I think Rogues are alot more fun, especially Zevran as a DW Assassin/Duelist, he just does so much single target damage that my mage could only have dreamed of.

What was yours?

Well I started with a human noble good alligned warrior / Champion. i felt the game pushed in that direction for a main character. Now i'm thinking about playing more of a support class such as an evil alligned elf blood mage.

my first character is my only character currently, I have no clue when I'll ever finish this game at this rate lol.

He is Ferox the Wizard/Mage, same character I've used in every rpg/mmo/pnp for 14 years. Hes never worn armor before and I thought the Arcane Warrior concept would be a cool and different way to go.

I started with a mage, but then switched to a rogue. If I play again, I might try focusing on archery, so that would probably mean a rogue again, probably a Dalish Elf.

Elf mage/AW (primal spells), then a Dalish Rogue Ranger (archery), and now human Warrior Champion (2h).

I think this latest is the funnest to play.

I have a warrior, a mage and a rogue, I've finished about 1/3 on the mage and rogue, working on the rogue now as I got a bit bored of the mage. The warrior was my favourite, lots of fun, I played a tank.

I currently a lvl 10 rogue, and it's my only character so far, so nothing to compare it to. If past RPGs are any indication, I'm guessing I'll enjoy the mage class more when I eventually play it.

I have always played the wizard/caster type in most RPGs that I encounter. Hence, I started with a Human Mage. I prefer playing wizards that use a 'pure-ish' form of magic (e.g. pure Arcane magic etc) so I specced my mage heavily into the 'spirit' tree (pretty much everything in there except for the necromancy spells).

I like my mage being the somewhat "anti-caster" and "control" type rather than the "zomg dps" type. But even my heavy spirit mage can dish out damage when needs arise (spell might ftw!).

What I really like about the wizard/mage archetype is their versatility. I am happy to say that this versatility is preserved in the implementation of the mage class in DA:O.

That being said, I love how the archer and warrior types work in DA:O as well. Those were my immediate choices for my second/third play-through.
