My thoughts on the ending, and the game overall.

Like most of you, I am rather disappointed in the ending, I
don't think it does justice to the great series that is Mass Effect, a series
all about choices, and how your choices affects the universe, and how the
ending severally downplays all your previous choices just leaves a bad taste in
my mouth.

It hurts even more since the game up until that point was
pure perfection, it hit every note I was hoping for, all the twists and turns
were thrilling. I stood outside in the cold at my local GameStop to get my CE
which I pre-ordered in June of last year at midnight, (even though I had a
class at 8 AM that morning) and was hooked until I beat it 2 days ago. The
interactions with everyone from your crew, to your love interest to people on
the Citadel was amazing, and compelling, the combat was brilliant, the enemy AI
really provided a challenge, even on the normal setting, and every battle was
an event. Seeing how all my choices from the previous two impacts how the world
was shaped was simply awesome. I was fully hooked and immersed in this
universe, and was already planning on playing 1, 2&3 over again in order,
and just playing with how everything changes based upon what choices you make.
This is the only game to make me cry, when Mordin died, when Legion sacrificed
himself to give the geth true life, Liara's project, when Thane died, and
saying the prayers over him, and how it was actually meant for me, not Thane.
When Liara came into my room and she told Sheperd she loved her, and I her, and
when Garrus was talking about that bar in Heaven. All freaking amazing and I
knew this was the best game I've ever played. It still is, but I refuse to
accept that ending as real, none of the choices I made really mattered in that
ending, my Sheperd wouldn't give in to whatever was talking to her at the end.
Especially since you can prove it's assertion that organics and synthetics are
meant to fight by showing them the Geth, and how you united them(if that's what
you chose to do)

And the fact that it doesn't give us any closure, no answers
as to what happens to any of the main characters that survive the game. And
that every ending destroys the mass relays just isn't wise for the future of
the franchise, nor does it give you any real sense of accomplishment, since
while you may stop the reapers, galactic civilization is screwed. With every
species military (and all of the Quarians) stranded on, or near Earth you would
soon have a situation that is similar to the Drell homeworld I would imagine.
So really, what's the point? And it's not like I want all endings to be full of
puppy dogs and sunshine, I was really hoping for an ending where the Reapers
win, and you fail, and was looking forward to playing through that with another
playthrough. The ending was just lacking in everyway, and to me, until they fix
it with DLC, the ending will be after Anderson dies, the Catalyst works, and
galactic civilization is saved, and me and Liara retire, and have those little
blue babies we were always talking about.

It's funny, because I normally try to stay away from these
forums, because it seems like some people here just want to complain, Mass
Effect 2 was heavily complained about on these forums, and I couldn't
understand why. That game was perfect IMO, and the stuff people complained about
just didn't make sense to me. But it is nice to not see that with this, people,
on the whole are calmly expressing their opinions.

And I know it is easy to hate on Bioware after that ending,
but I won't. I want to thank them, for giving us a world that I care about
enough to come on here, and voice my opinion. For making one of the best damn
gaming trilogy’s ever, for making games that I think are a shining light in the
gaming industry, and should be put on a pedestal and praised for what games
could, and should be. And while the ending to Mass Effect 3 is a huge disappointment,
the rest of the game, was an amazing ride, and the best game I've ever played,
and I still will play it countless times, because I had more fun with this game
since well, Mass Effect 2.  I just wish
the ending did justice to what is in my opinion, the best game of this
generation.
