I'm at Virmire in Mass Effect, right before Wrex. Suffice it to say, I'd like to keep playing the game, but I'm trying to figure out which decision gives you the most war assets. I would appreciate some feedback.
Should I kill Wrex?
People have said on here, many times, that if you kill Wrex on Virmire, then Wreav becomes the new leader and he's too stupid to recognize the sabotage in time to affect the war. However, does that still happen if you keep Eve alive? I've read conflicting reports on this and I've never found a solid answer. I've also read that the krogan are worth less under Wreav than they would be under Wrex. How much less are we talking about?
And if I keep Wrex alive, but sabotage the genophage anyway, how much krogan support do I lose? I doubt I'd lose the entire army, but the guide is vague on this and I haven't seen any tangible data.
This decision is the big hurdle in the trilogy. In Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, paragon decisions will give you the most war assets in the long run - with the exception of the collector base. But this thing with Wrex is muddy as hell and I'm not sure what to do.

I'm flying blind here. It might have been better for me to wait a few months so that all of the mechanics get sorted out. I'm going to have Ashley kill Wrex against my orders. I still get paragon points, and his death isn't directly on my hands. I just hope that when I sabotage the genophage in Mass Effect 3, with Eve and Wreav alive, they don't find out about it. My character will be paragon in ME and ME 2, but in ME 3, well, morality has to go out of the window. I'll be doing whatever I can in that game to maximize war assets.
Fortunate for me, as I've said, that all paragon decisions in the first two games, save two, give you the most assets.
Head-Canon will help. Wreav will take personal responsibility for the genophage, so once they discover it didn't work, he'll lose his leadership positiion. Grunt will still be alive. Okeer believes the genophage was good for the krogan, and Grunt's continued rise in the ranks will allow him to become the leader one day. The krogan should still be in good hands, especially with Eve around, unless she commits suicide.

I suggest searching up on the Mass Effect Wiki, be warned however, much of what is on there contain spoilers. Though, you will find answers to what you are looking for and more.
