Go into something expecting perfection and you are going to be disappointed every time. If you are unable to realize how great this entire triology has been because you are angry that you didn't get the ending that you wanted then I guess I just feel sorry for you.

So I would assume the Phantom Meance completely destroyed the Star Wars saga for many of you?

I loved all three games. Great job Bioware!

People are not asking for perfection. They are asking for some closure.

This is going way too far. 95% of the game is a downright masterpiece!

DA2....

Which has been proven to have nothing to do with ME 3.  By now it is obvious from playing ME 3 that it is nothing like DA 2 so stop right there with you "but DA 2" crap, but DA 2 nothing.  This uproar over the endings just proves how overreactive the BSN is and has always been.  So many drama queens like to come on here and say how their experience is ruined over 5 minutes.  These people need to wake up.  Headscratcher endings are nothing new to movies and video games, even great ones.  And yes ME 3 is a great game.

No one denies 99% of the game is a masterpiece.
In fact I'd give it a 10 out of 10 if those atrocious endings didn't exist.
But you have to take them into account, and they are so horrifyingly bad, that my score drops from 10/10 to 4/10 and the entire franchise is ruined and unplayable for me.

Because I'll know that everything I do in ME1, 2 and 3 will end up with that... Joke of an ending.

^This. The combat, the music, the writting, with all the changes, was still great up till those last 5-10 minutes. So I agree, the game is totally great, the trilogy is great. And it ends up to this. Doesn't stop me from still enjoying it, but it went from a 10 to a 6 for the trilogy in my opinion.

Good thing this thread provides much needed thought-provoking points and counterpoints.

OP, gtfo, this thread is pointless and we don't want to hear your opinion via a whole new thread. Voice it in the other NUMEROUS threads for it so people can ignore it.

Nobody asked for perfection.  Only competence, consistency, and closure, none of which exist in these endings.  The last 0.5% of the game wouldn't sting so much if we weren't experiencing it right after the unprecedented excellence of the first 99.5%

The fact that Bioware builds its games on a foundation of narrative means if they botch an ending, the "other 99%" of the game is cheapened when they fail to deliver. Compounding this, the other two story arcs are now trivialized because the final resolution of this whole mess is an EDI-style joke.

I agree, I would give this game a solid 8 out of 10 still... accounting for the dodgy animations, ending, some questionable dialogue, and the fact that space bar does far too much.

People downvoting to 0/10 are just plain stupid. It's still a great game.

We just have to wait for Bioware's response before anything else can happen. It's been discussed to death and all the current theories are excellent. I don't see anything more coming of this topic until Bioware replies. But I will still hound these forums giving my opinions and validating them with valid arguments until I understand where this franchise is going. I love it far too much to just leave it.

This is like saying pants with a little hole in them are still "great pants".   The hole ruins the entire piece of clothing just like the ending ruins the re-playability of the game.  It makes the game (especially the Collector's Edition) a huge rip off.

Keep up the fight. Between glitches, the broken import system and flat out deceit, Bioware deserves eveything it has coming.

Bioware could have lessened this fallout already if they would make some sort of statement. If these endings are part of some master plan, just let us know. If there isn't a plan give us an apology or an explanation of the ending. Something. As it is now, it's looking like this is going to get ugly.

Have a little trust, you say? That's kinda hard after having gotten burned first by DA2 and now ME3.

Trust has to be earned and kept... BioWare had it once, but lost is quite some time ago.

It's time for them to feel that loss... atleast alittle.

Those of us that have tried to give thoughtful and civil critiques of the ending are now finding ourselves a little sickened by the vindictive attacks on BioWare and its staff. Backlashes sometimes create their own backlashes. This isn't the Russian Revolution. Let's keep things civil - I know it's hard in this day and age.

Who is attacking bioware employees? When did this happen? I do not support attacking anyone at all.

If this were ME2 I could forgive a messy ending but how on Earth did they go from masterful story to disaster right at the end?

Bioware wanted their fans to be emotionally invested in their characters. They had us building relationships through 3 games and then somehow assume we would care what happens to them. There wasn't even any dialog.

Me too. I'm sort of amazed at how the majority of the people are presenting themselves in a rational, thoughtful way.

And we need to keep it that way.  Even if they don't change the endings, it's in our self-interest, as well as BioWare's, to keep the fan-dev lines of communication open.

I 've heard that people are spamming employees' twitter accounts with harrassing messages, and trying to sabotage the game through unfairly low scores on metacritic and amazon.  The latter might not have any concret effect, but it sours the fan-dev relationship more than it already may be.

No trust for someone who serves me an expensive gourmet dish just to put a rotting rat carcass on it when I reach for my fork. And doesn't even consider giving me a refund. My trust has been shattered, and violently so.

Asking for closure is reasonable and on that part I agree.  However people coming on here and acting like drama queens just because they didn't like the last 5 minutes is just downright ridiculous.  It was still a great game.

Yes, I want this franchise to be erased.

All the magic of the game was snuffed out in 15 minutes.

I didn't think it was possible, but they proved me wrong.

It's not actually going too far, if you think about it from an economic stand point. If people are dissatisfied with a product they'll value it accordingly. Same approach works in entertainment. Look at movies, they all start out at the $15 dollars a ticket new release, but if people don't like it, it gains poor reviews, and quickly ends up in the $1 theater. After all when it comes to businesses we've always been told to "vote with our wallets."

Personally I'm not participating in this, but I can understand it.

Hands down the best game I ever played... until it wasn't. Until years of affection, loyalty and hours of free time got chewed up and spit out.

Trust? after that ending? sorry, no. That was violated beyond repair.

But there is a chance I might be able to forgive, and I'll fight for that.

Does this board have tens of thousands of members who would vote on polls?

Indeed, ME3 is a great game until the last five minutes, which aggressively seeks out and destroys any purpose we might have found in the journey.

Contrary to what interviews said we would get.

Yes an attack on bioware staff is appalling and honestly counterproductive however the negative user reviews are not. Seeing as many of us preordered the game the only way we can make our opinion on the endings known is through mediums like this forum or user reviews.

Voicing are displeasure is not going to far. To be heard in this world one must be loud otherwise you shall be ignored. Everybody who is upset at the ending will tell you other than that it is a great game. The ending doesn't fit and people are letting it be known.

Review bombing is civil.
