Might I suggest that we say something about the possibility of making this an annual thing with BSNers? I think that this is something that we've toyed around with. Why not let people know that we're seriously considering it?

Lovely idea.

40k? **** me. That will make alot of kids happy.Even if we don't get new endings (which would suck) this are going towards a good cause.

whenever i get discouraged reading the comments on the articals about retake mass effect(which you can Google now and articals just pop up, its pretty cool), i come hear and read a few pages, and I feel better. as much as I want to rage at the people who are so woefully wrong about what we're going, its better that I keep my silence and let it go.

/but seriously i wish the people who are saying that our money could be spent going to medical supplies would realize that the money we're raising isnt like, a DLC fund, it all going to something more important and greater than the mass effect franchise as a whole.

I like Tycho's response. Although he appreciated the endings, he did not make a blanket statement as so many others have that anyone who did not is "wrong" somehow. I do chafe a bit at the insinuation that if we were merely a bit better read, we too would have been able to appreciate the current ending.

From what I've seen it's those who actually understand the art of storytelling who have problems with the endings i.e. the better read. In most cases, those in support of the current finale rarely comment on its use of deus ex machina, the lack of internal logic (even just within that one scene), the total abandonment or even reversal of recurring themes, or the inexplicable change in the character of the protagonist.

Most counter-arguments to the widespread fan displeasure begin and end at "I enjoyed it, so shut up", though in Tycho's case his version is "I enjoyed it, and so would you if you were a cleverdick like me". It's just as vacouous as the other dismissals because it adresses none of the problems with the events that unfold in the story.

He focuses instead on the "Interesting Questions" as if these excuse all the other problems. Surely if he'd been paying attention while playing, he'd have realised that these questions were not only trite and hackneyed, but completely inappropriate when following the preceding events. As someone who's acting as if he's approaching it from a balanced, intellectual position, there's a dearth of critical analysis in his appraisal. Well, not enough to make the claims he does (in my opinion).

I retract most of that - I was in a momentary grump. His appraisal is actually quite fair. I just happen to disagree.

I did put some positive/neutral coverage links up on the front page, as well as links to articles which do a good job of explaining our issues (at least, in my opinion).

Playah gonna play. We had three options- we could have been destructive, we could have sat down and taken it, or done something constructive. When is the last time you've seen that much money raised  in PROTEST of something and givent o an awesome charity?

I believe we all picked the non-available option many of us were looking for.... "REFUSE"

As a thought... do you think it would be possible to get the HISHE guys on our side? Not necessarily to support the charity but to an animated video from them would do wonders to raise awareness about the absurdity of the ending.

Hold the Line.

Relevant TIL during this: Arthur Conan Doyle retconed Holmes death after publishing it....

Yes, and Charles Dickens changed the ending to "Great Expectations" because people thought it was too grim.

Charles Dickens was not able to programming code and release a patch or DLC

wake up.. we live in 2012!!!

Every DLC is nothing else than a potential rewritten ending...

Soooo Dickens, an amazing writer who's books stand the test of time(cause anyone can do that amirite?) is a bad example?

I never said this!!!
I said comparing a Masterpiec written on paper with a Programm, coded in 2012 and able to be changed in a click (via origin with a patch or dlc) ist a bit... mh... ridicolous..
And since Drew Karpyshin left Story-Writing on about Beginning ME2 there is not in a small way some comparison to  Dickens for ME 3 ;) ;) ;)  ;) ;)

Well the feed's back up but now the site took extra time to load, but it's up too. Maybe the server had a hiccup?

Edit: I tried refreshing again and it's just taking forever to reload. Maybe we are breaking it a little with donations.

Whew don't scare me like that guys. Losing that page would have been destructive to our morale. And don't let people and reviews get you down, there just trying to minimize our movement and our good work. Even if we weren't partially requesting new additions to the ending of ME3, they'd bash us, gamers always get hit hard, as were all seen as fan boys. I've said it before this movement will forever change how MANY people see us as a whole. Keep it civil, keep it calm and show them we are not to be minimialized just because we game!

Hold The Line.

It's awesome when I can check the RSS feed and go "Woah someone hasn't donated in 5 minutes! Are we starting to slow down?" And then giggle as 3 donations are made simultaneously in the next minute. =)
