Just think of how many consoles, games, TVs, etc. this is gonna provide for sick kids stuck in hospitals for weeks on end. It takes their mind off their illness and in some cases the pain, lets their parents do some relaxing, etc.

Did you see the crying baby with the caption of "this pic is unrelated." I'm not generally paranoid but I have a strong feeling that that was aimed at us.

That said, I must admit I could use a shot in the arm. All of this talk (regardless of the source) that boils down to, "Look at those underhanded bastards, using charity as leverage" is quite depressing. When did we, as a society, become so cynical that we could ever call people entitled whiners for giving to charity? To me, it's blatantly obvious that the 'change the endings' petition is almost an afterthought. The mere act of raising so much money for children is giving everyone a positive outlet for their emotions and a sense of accomplishment that no game, good ending or bad, could ever give us. It's been said before, but it'd only be underhanded if we were holding the money hostage until we got our way. Frankly, if that were the case, it WOULD be the most scummy, vile thing I've ever heard of. But it's not. Only good can come of this fundraiser. There are no losers.
This is how the world SHOULD work. When we feel bad about something, we explain ourselves politely and then use all that bad emotion to do something good. Isn't that what we're all taught growing up? 'If you're angry, don't attack someone. Use that energy to exercise.' That's an extremely watered-down analogy, but I think it makes my point.
Long story short, I'm baffled. When did we get to a point where we want to attack people so badly that we want to nitpick freaking CHARITY? And on a much more personal and likely opinionated note (so ignore the following as you wish), I don't think the fact that the charity gives entertainment to kids should ever be an issue. You can't argue that giving food to the starving would be less 'underhanded' or more 'genuine.' Pain is relative, and so is happiness. No one person's pain or pleasure is ever more genuine than someone else's. That sort of thinking just... it puts an ache in my chest. Doing good is doing good, no matter how 'small' or 'trivial' it seems. You never know how your little actions are going to change someone's life.
TL; DR - Sorry for the rant. Basically, I am so proud of what this drive has accomplished that I have a little faith in humanity again and I just want that feeling to grow and last.

Unbelievable.
For those that dont want to give them a hit or potential ad revenue, they make fun that we picked child's play as a charity basically since we're gamers and obviously we don't know of any others. To me it sounded like they were saying it's not a worthy charity, and if that's not what they intended they should apologize.

Just wanted to say that this movement is really helping me to get through my disappointment and all the other icky emotions the whole 'ending fiasco' has caused. There's just way too damn much hatred flying around these days; it's nice to have somewhere to go where the prevailing mood is a positive one.

I agree man. I've been getting tired of this bad reputation from other sites too. They seem to think we're using this petition as a diabolical way to further our own cause. I for one decided to donate because I felt helpless. I could rant and rave on these forum pages all day and all that would do is generate negativity. With this charity we are at least doing something positive and productive with our lives other than acting like spoiled brats. Even if Bioware never decides to address the issue and completely ignore us, I'll be content that I at least made a small difference in somebody else's life.

Amen to that.
