The state of games journalism has me really depressed right now. Outside gaming industry specific outlets, the general opinion appears to support us as consumers and understands the point we're trying to make. The gaming press however seem to be stuck on calling us "crybabies" and insisting that we're being irrational without even attempting to refute our position. And we're the immature ones apparently.
I'd really like to know how much money Destructoid raised for charity last year. I wonder if it even comes close to what has been achieved here in 48 hours.
To be honest I think they are just confused by something the do not understand. Giving to a mutually supported charity to express frustration with something is a new idea. it often takes a while for people to understand whats new, and until they do they tend to freak out and over react about it.
I wouldn't be so frustrated if I thought they'd taken even a few moments to
try and understand. But they obviously have no idea what's going on beyond the official developer statements and press releases. These guys aren't games journalists, they're games ...commentators, maybe? Whatever they should really be called, my point is that they clearly have no idea about, or no interest, in doing any research for themselves beyond what appears in their email inbox or twitter feed.
I'll have to content myself with the fact that some kids somewhere are going to catch a break from all this. They might even get to play ME3 - I hope it's fixed by then, hehe!
