Hey everyone I don't want to distract from conversation going on here but as one of the very few(if not the only) thread I have ever commented on these forums(and one that has blown me away) I am curious to get some feedback from the people here about some thoughts I had regarding the relationship between BioWare and its fans.

Is Mass Effect an RPG and BioWare our GM or is it just a video game?

Well considering that some people were talking about originizing this into an annual thing, it very well could just end up not mattering, and rather become a fan-dom of ME in general, or even more general, people who hang out on BSN-driven anual donation drive.  Dunno though.

Pretty much this. Our Child's Play charity drive has long evolved passed simply raising awareness for our cause. A lot of us are donating because we see a lot of like-minded individuals donating, or simply because donating can make one feel good for helping others less fortunate.

Hell, I'm sure another factor is because a lot of people don't actively donate by manually looking up a site online to donate to. They're here on the forums, see a handy little link that leads to a page with a [DONATE] button, and figure "Eh, why not."

I like the idea of making this a yearly thing regardless of what happens with the endings.  Not sure we could ever match this initial outpour, but hey, every little bit counts.

1: this has made me proud to be part of the gamer community. I have NEVER gotten to say that before and mean it.

2: I have no idea who should coordinate it, but if we want this movement to continue to spread we are going to have to break into the European forums, even the ones that are not in English. So this is a call to anyone who is bilingual. The war effort needs translators, we need people getting on other forums and spreading the word.

3: Just a word of encouragement. Everyone who is donating to the charity is helping even more than they know. My mother has the privilege of being a doctor and she would tell you that nothing, and i mean nothing, helps people get through tough illnesses like feeling loved by those around them. I know it sounds cheezy and lame, but think about this, your nine years old and your laid up in a hospital bed, you feel like hell, then your doctor brings in a console so you can play a game on the tv in your room. You ask them were it came from, they say it is from a charity, because someone cared enough about you, to give you this. Someone who hasn't even met you, doesn't even know your name cared enough to try and make your day a little brighter. That's worth even more than the game they gave you, trust me.

tldr, im going to make a paypal account, i need to get in on this action.

Even if it is, honestly the entire game, I felt like that kid was a lie (Much like cake).  He just doesn't feel real, IMO, and that picture explains plenty of it.

I think someone showed the true model that is supposed to be in that picture.

It's honestly not hard to fake that, the entire background is already a solid color. No need to line anything up.

I think some misinterpreted my original meaning. I was going more along the lines of it being an internal conundrum. We initially raised this petition to positively channel our collective message (changing the endings). But in doing so, we may have caused the actual endings we wanted to be delayed even further if Bioware doesn't want to hurt the charity. For example if they were to make an official statement along the lines of "We're sorry guys. You convinced us to make a new ending" people may not be as committed to make the donation since the initial reasoning now is negated. I would imagine Bioware knows this already. With that considered they would probably generously hold off on their announcement till April 11th. Although in the mean time they may continue to take bad PR but that is a different matter entirely.

Now that is said I still totally agree with you guys. Donating to a worthy charity makes up for all of this. But I feel a little bad for helping putting Bioware in this situation to begin with. I don't think anyone realized it going in to it that this could be a possible outcome. But ultimately what's been done now can't be undone, can't really change that.

Momentum has slowed down, but not by much, probably cause its late. If your not a fan of the cause you can be a fan of helping these kids out. Go and donate! It has almost broke 44,000

A friend just showed me it;  Aparently floating around the intra-webz.  Some sort of lot about unlockables that are currently not available for Multiplayer being available, as well as already planned DLC (Perhaps?) for a more conclusive ending to ME3.

I also have another picture if you'd like to see, but this is literally a spoiler that you don't want to see unless you are ok with potentially ruining story elements.

Big part of Europe is now slowly waking up, we´ll do our job. In a few hours readiness will be 100%.

Is there any chance Bioware might match our donation total? Regardless of whether they do or do not release an updated/alternate ending, it would be a nice gesture, IMO. (Not a gesture to us, of course, but to the kids who benefit from this charity.)

I'm sure plenty of real things end up coming out of troll infested waters, it's just not likely it's true, hence 'With a grain (Or truck) of salt.'

Also, I doubt they'd have a full name in a model file name, since why bother when they have to type that all out?  They'd certainly more likely have code/short hand names, not something so long.

If it were true it'd more likely be some short hand of Harbinger, and the users would have eluded to the fact that it could likely be short hand for Harbinger, I would think anyways.

Don't forget our gamers started 2 days later into the game and some may need some time before they see the ending of this awesome series.

I chipped in my money yesterday at 32k and now we're at roughly 44k. I'm at a loss for words. This is so awesome.
I never felt the need to post here, but when I found this topic yesterday, I wanted to be part of the group.
Since I had some problems posting here, I acted on the voting and donating front first.
But now - as you can see - I'm finally here, ready and waiting.

from personal experience of ripping games apart and looking at their insides as well as working on mods/indie games more often than not they do have long names for the models and other data, helps to clearly know what it is and is better organized.

regardless that image is still probably a hoax.
