Hey everyone! I'm awake and back to the war effort. :)

I'd like to help with some of the questions that came up.

1) All the money we raise up to April 11th automatically goes to the charity, regardless of BioWare doing anything or not.
2) The drive does not end until April 11th. We have plenty of time! Pace yourselves, don't get discouraged by trolls, or gaming websites mocking us. Hold the line!
3) A lot of people could not donate right away, they had to wait for their next paycheck (I'm waiting for my next one to donate moar!) so this is going to keep on building.

There have been a couple of themes repeated over and over in these threads - and for the people who don't have the time to read all 127 pages, I thought I would try to summarize them.

First and foremost - a good percentage of the people posting here - felt just like I did. After finishing the game, they felt depressed and at a total loss as to why BioWare would do this to the franchise, the characters in it - and to us. BioWare's total silences, or hinted shock that the fans would not like the ending - has not helped matters. But, after starting this up and helping - whether through a $0.03 cent donation to get on "OneRabidAnt"s nerves (hahaha!) or a $10,000 dollar donation, or simply spreading the word...
Those feelings of frustration evolved into wonderful feelings of happiness and possibly, hope!

Regardless of what happens, a lot of children stuck in hospitals are going to be happier!

Another "theme" floating around is that a lot of us feel this is what Admiral Anderson or Commander Shepard (or even Captain Kirrahe :) ) would want us to do. Turn something massively negative into a positive. To not give up on our desire to see not the ending we feel WE deserve, but to see the ending we feel Shepard and the franchise deserves!

Finally, all of the money goes directly to Child's Play. When you donate, you can have a receipt printed or emailed to you for tax purposes. As many have stated before me, if you are uncomfortable donating to this particular charity, donate to any charity you like - trust us - it will start to heal the hurt you have over the ending of the game and help you feel better about humanity in general. :)

I think that is everything, anyone feel free to correct me!

and

Hold the line!

Pennies for space magic! ....and children. :wizard:

Hey, Rabid, what's your birthday, I wonder? I'm going to donate that many pennies =D

hahahaahaha.  Um... 10/00/00?...maybe?..nice...even...numbers? (not really but for the sake of avoiding uneven numbers)

Oh yay!! I've been so hoping Forbes would cover this!

Yeah, they also put the link in the article that takes you directly to the chipin website!

I'm in tears again =) Seeing all of this goodness makes me so happy. And when a big name like FORBES says such good things about us? I don't think I have words to properly portray how amazing this feels. Hold the line!!

Also, Paragons of Protest. What a cool name.

I remember someone posting a dutch article about this and adding some translation. Probably this one.
edit: Ah, was a different one.

edit2: Probably should add wth I'm talking about...

miekojn wrote...

Dunno if anyone posted this yet, but tweakers.net, a very popular dutch website, posted an article about the movement:

http://tweakers.net/...s-effect-3.html

I am too lazy to translate it, but it's a good and neutral article.

Lol.  I think I read this wrong--at first I thought that you got in a fight with someone about the Retake charity in a laundry room.  Anyways, glad to have you back. :D

Lol! Yeah, no, everybody I know in real life was totally  over the ending. This was just some guy who decided to hijack my sister's FB status about the game. I should've known better, but he seemed open to reason... for about five seconds, then he went right for the ad hominem. Oh well. Lesson learned, back to holding the line!

Sounds like you'd love a current initiative in Germany called "Round up please" that has the cashier at the store round up your bill to even numbers if you tell him so and the extra pennies for the store going to charity.

I hope people are keeping an eye on the mega thread, trying to keep it focused and not descending into flame wars. I haven't had time unfortunatly life got very hectic for me, I should have time by tommorow but for now I need all my fellow fans help! Keep the threads in line, keep them focused. Believe it or not, little by little not only are we winning this but were doing something great, can't let it descend into anarchy now!

Hold The Line!

Edit: Haha yes I saw the new articles, Im so happy, were really getting noticed here, keep up the good work everyone, I've personally donated what little I had left because being one of the organizers I feel like I'd be a hypocrite holding onto excess fundage when everyone has given so much of themselves! I've never been more proud to be a gamer.

Well, it might just be me, but most of the posts look quite civil actually! It's nothing like the sh*tstorm that broke loose with Dragon Age 2.

You stay classy BSN! And whatever you do, hold the line!!
