Almost to 51,500 :)

and thanks so much for sharing your story Hearnishere123. It was a very touching thing to read and a big reminder to all of us about how our efforts will help those kiddies in the hospitals!

Hold the line!

Went to sleep for a nap with us at about 49,000, woke up to find we'd gotten 2,000 more! Awesome. :D

My 50K post :P

The Reapers come every 50,000 years to destroy all organic life.

The Paragons of Protest, while holding the line, raised $50,000 dollars for children in hospitals in 65 hours.

So, in tribute of that epic victory - and more to come...

*clears throat*

We all know the mission and what is at stake...

I have come to trust each of you with my emotions, but I have also heard murmurs of discontent with the Mass Effect endings. I share your concerns. We are trained for playing single player RPG video games; we would be loners, if not for this community.

Flaming in forum threads is not our way.

Think of our heroes, Commander Shepard, who defied all odds to acheive the impossible. Or the slowly emerging Positive press articles, who keep the trolls away with facts and logic.
These giants do not seem to add to our voice here, but they are not all that we are.
Before the charity drive, there was frustration. Before the frustration, we witnessed the "Ending".

Our influence brought us together to do something wonderful, but before that, we held the line!
Our influence stopped the media from calling us "entitled whiners", but before that, we held the line!

Our influence WILL make many children happy; in the battle today, we will

HOLD.THE.LINE.

Love this.  Thank you.

Woo, past $50k! Awesome, I knew we'd be there when I got home! Good work everyone!

For those that care, Shepard will be up next in the character banners, both for a charity specific and more general Retake banner, followed by Miranda and probably EDI, unless I get requests for others.

Now that this forum has been reopened we need to work extra hard to ensure that this thread remains as positive and issue free as possible. I know most of us have been great about it and if anyone needs to vent I suggest taking it to one of the the other threads so we can stay focused here. If you see someone causing problems don't just hit the report button.

Personally what I do is PM the unholy trinity of smackdown Chris Priestly, John Epler and Stanley Woo. Briefly summarize the issue, give a link the the person's profile page and the page of the thread of the page they started causing problems on.

Hold the line!

QFT, thank you makenzieshepard

I'd also like to draw everyone's attention to the group I created for
this drive. It's might be a temporary or stop gap measure if a lockdown
happens again but it could also be a good way to stay in touch if we
decide to make this a recurring donation drive. Retake Mass Effect - Petition and Child's Play Donation Drive Group

I will had over mod duties or delete if requested by the thread OP's

That is a very good idea to be able for all of us to keep in touch after this is over.  Like I said, I do hope we can make this a yearly thing, but I don't believe we should coordinate on the forums specifically.  This will give us a staging point.

Joining, and thank you for creating it.  As for mod duties - I'd be happy to help (if that is possible) but I have no problem with you being in charge either :)

This has been posted here before, and this joke is probably overused, but I still enjoy it...

PS Best part - watching this while hitting refresh on the ChipIn page :)

a little OT: While I sit here following various Threads and F5ing the Donation page, I noticed a song of my favourite German Metal Band Blind Guardian.

This song is actually about a quite different peace of literature but somehow applies surprisingly well here:
 Ride into Obsession

Hold the Line fellow Paragons of Protest!

Child's Play Shepard banner here - as always, it and the rest are available at http://imageshack.us...bannerbeta.jpg/ - if anyone else wants me to host theirs there as well, let me know - I don't want to put them there without your permission and have someone think I made something a lot better than I have though, lol.

Seems like the other side are starting to be more vocal.

I kinda feel bad for em because some our side have been complete idiots.

Regardless of the outcome of our cries for a new Ending DLC, this has truly been wonderful thing. $50,000+ raised in a matter of days!

The lengths to which this movement have gone to raise money for children are fairly astounding. I salute everyone who donated.

That being said, holding this up as a shining example of "why we're not entitled" and then bludgeoning journalists over the head with it like petulant children is not going to change the image that the media has created. In fact, it might make it worse, because it looks like we're using "but it's for the sick children" as a valid defense.

Let your actions speak louder than your words. Quit flooding tip lines of unfriendly publications every time we meet a milestone, because it just gives them something else to ridicule us for. Let the numbers rise and the big media will come.

Hold the line

Actually, if anyone has any particular good stories about the drive, I'd like to compile them. Things that impressed you. My end of the media might be small, but I've been putting out articles fairly regularly in support of the cause.

I'm proud to be here with you guys pushing for an improvement to a franchise we love while helping children with more money than I could have ever imagined we fans would raise. It sounds cheesy over the net, especially anonymous to all of you, but I'm honored to be participating in this. Lets stay proud and strong as we move toward 60k. Holding the line as long as it takes.
