I'd like to help with some of the questions that came up.
1) All the money we raise up to April 11th automatically goes to the charity, regardless of BioWare doing anything or not.
2) The drive does not end until April 11th. We have plenty of time! Pace yourselves, don't get discouraged by trolls, or gaming websites mocking us. Hold the line!
3) A lot of people could not donate right away, they had to wait for their next paycheck (I'm waiting for my next one to donate moar!) so this is going to keep on building.
There have been a couple of themes repeated over and over in these threads - and for the people who don't have the time to read all 127 pages, I thought I would try to summarize them.
First and foremost - a good percentage of the people posting here - felt just like I did. After finishing the game, they felt depressed and at a total loss as to why BioWare would do this to the franchise, the characters in it - and to us. BioWare's total silences, or hinted shock that the fans would not like the ending - has not helped matters. But, after starting this up and helping - whether through a $0.03 cent donation to get on "OneRabidAnt"s nerves (hahaha!) or a $10,000 dollar donation, or simply spreading the word...
Those feelings of frustration evolved into wonderful feelings of happiness and possibly, hope!
Regardless of what happens, a lot of children stuck in hospitals are going to be happier!
Another "theme" floating around is that a lot of us feel this is what Admiral Anderson or Commander Shepard (or even Captain Kirrahe
) would want us to do. Turn something massively negative into a positive. To not give up on our desire to see not the ending we feel WE deserve, but to see the ending we feel Shepard and the franchise deserves!
Finally, all of the money goes directly to Child's Play. When you donate, you can have a receipt printed or emailed to you for tax purposes. As many have stated before me, if you are uncomfortable donating to this particular charity, donate to any charity you like - trust us - it will start to heal the hurt you have over the ending of the game and help you feel better about humanity in general.
Posting this to help those jumping into the thread here recently, that do not have time to go back and read 150+ pages... (Tho, if you have the time, I highly recommending reading all of it - it is very heart warming!)
Remember, stay civil when communicating, treat others like you want to be treated! and most importantly...
Hold the line!
