That made me laugh:

Fans: "Bioware, how could you screw up the endings???"
Bioware: "No data...available."
Fans: dhgihkdfsfhh!!
Bioware: "Corporate management is currently building consensus. Please try again later."

Bioware: "Corporate management has build consensus. The mass marketed mainstream product sold is Art. You can't change Art"

While I like child's play, the fact that penny-arcade actively ridicules people who didn't like the ending with a strawman argument about "happy" endings shows how much disconnect there is between them and people who can't afford to play every once game and move on.

I think it's also to do with cheap laughs. They're banking on the fact the majority of
people don't know or fully understand what this movement is about, so they take a blind
swing and hope it generates chuckles. Problem is, it only hurts us, publicity wise, and
emotionally. I know it made me a bit miffed.

So I donated again :D ...got payed yesterday.

Agreed, I have to say giving to this charity was hard for me 'cause of the PA people being such arseharts ... but I did, and hopefully it'll shup PA up.

I have yet to beat ME3 I'm only 8 hours or so into the game, but I just wanted to say that this is a very positive and inspiring way to let your voice be heard. At the same time gives hope and happiness to children everywhere that are sick in hospitals.

The wife and I just helped out and gave to the cause!

Hold the Line!

Um, I just thought of something, if Retake ME doesn't have a Japanese page, someone should really make one, it looks like things have hit the fan in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Oh? I hope you're not telling us we should be aware of cyber-kamikaze-ninja's???  Cause we'd be pretty doomed if they let those loose on the world!

On a serious note, is the reaction really as bad there as it was/is here?

Re: Penny Arcade- Honestly, I laughed. Some parts of this community's desires for a happy ending are a tad ridiculous. You just have to take it in stride, because if we can't laugh at ourselves...really, we're taking this too seriously. We're a charity drive. If we squeeze more fun out of a game, great. If not, we help sick kids. We're here to get people smiling, one way or the other.

Paypal is free for anyone to use, and utilizes a credit card OR your back account directly. If paypal isn't an option, I'm sure Child's Play takes checks/money orders directly.  Check with their official site for specific details. And thanks!

Me: I'm going to spoil the end of Mass Effect 3 for you.
Friend: NO, DON'T I HAVEN'T BEATEN IT YET!
Me: RGB colour scheme.
Friend: . . . What?
Me: RGB colour scheme.
Friend: . . . I'm confused.
Me: My work here is done.

Or you can create a viritual credit card and use that. I heard those work pretty well.. (never used them myself though!)

Since the Japanese release has come and went, any way we can reach more of the Asian community? Perhaps if any of our members are fluent in Japanese or could offer a translation of the Child's Play campaign to be posted in the alternate language sections of the forum or the pertinent regional media outlets? Obviously the more gamers we reach that are dissatisfied, the more we can spread the word for the kids.

At this point the anger has worn off over the ending debacle for me. Its now down to continued power of will in the face of this travesty. With any luck we can all persevere long enough to see the charity drive concluded, our requested changes are effected, or at very least Bioware gives us the brush off we're all secretly expecting.

Hold the line.

By the way, thanks Jee for finding all the good press on us. It was a nice way to start my morning :)

Any further word from Bioware? Probably not, but I thought I'd ask. Rather ask you guys then venture out into the general forums.

You're welcome! Found another, somewhat negative piece on another dutch gamesite, the writer thinks all the whining is out of place and unfounded. He talks about the rage over the day-1 DLC and the picture of Tali.

He does think our drive is a good thing though, but he underestimates the number of civil but dissapointed gamers here on BSN and thinks only that vocal and raging minority are dissapointed.

And it's good to see that the first reply was to put him in his place. ^_^

Video game reviewers are like music critics... they establish "cool" cred by having to tear something down and be too cool for the people they are speaking to. And sadly, the gaming community can make an easy target.

One of the things that makes this idea so amazing for putting a mature calm voice of dissent out there.
