This ended so badly that I wandered around depressed for several days while I came to terms with the fact that the entire Mass Effect universe was essentially destroyed in a colorful haze. :(

Don't know if this has been posted or not, but there is a new Forbes blog over the ME3 protests. Not really about our charity drive, but still an interesting read. :)

My response to Erik's new blog:

"Once again, a really great read. And something that hopefully
EA/Bioware will take into account. I have a lot of love for Bioware
because they’re good people and have been REALLY good to their fans in
the past. I’m hoping that continues to be the case now that they’ve
went through the merger with EA. Bioware did a lot to get new customers
to notice ME3 (with the MP feature, new game play mechanics, and Kinect
option). The ending(s) to the game seem ultimately unrelated to
bringing in new customers. The ending(s) to this epic and beautiful
story should have been about giving the hardcore, long term (played ME1
and ME2) fans that dedicated their time and money to the franchise over
the last 5 years the satisfaction that they yearned for and (more
importantly) were promised for months.

The recent app leak was more a less a slap in the face to any fan that
thought they had any plan of coming through on that promise. Here’s
hoping that Bioware continues to be the company that I have known and
loved by trying to make things right with the people that have stood by
them for years."

Despite it all, I still believe in Bioware.  I still love them and think they'll end up doing the right thing.

Is there anyone out there who has the lingual skills to spread the word on the Asian boards?

Going by the numbers displayed on the site, looks like the average doner has donated $20+ to the cause - more than they would have payed for the DLC cost if BW needs/wants people to pay for it.

Interesting.

Good luck on the interview! Be honest and smile :)

I know you have been bummed since watching the end of the game, but hopefully all this happiness in this thread has been helpful!

And, I wish I could "quote" everyone's posts since I had to go to work this morning, so many of you said so many cool / insightful and/or poignant (sp? hah) things - I just want to quote post after post and give everyone a +1 or a smiley face. You continue to make me proud!

Hold the line!

Thank you!.
I was about to go to bed, but I donated my last 7 dollars to make it an even number instead of just having 3 dollars sitting there!. It was going to be my two minute noodle money but thats okay I have pasta!.

Hold the line and actual good night now!.

The donation site is here:

Questions that have been brought up that I would like to address here:

When does the donated money go to Child's Play?

Right when you donate. All of the money raised goes directly to Child's Play. You are basically making a direct Paypal transaction with donate@childsplaycharity.org. The only thing that ChipIn does is to track how many people have donated and how much. There is no "goal" amount, there is no turning back. Regardless of the outcome of the petition, your donations are going to the charity.

How can I verify that this is legitimate?

Jaime Dillion, project manager at Child's Play, has graciously agreed to answer any concerns you have in terms of donations reaching Child's Play. Contact at jdillion@childsplaycharity.org.

-----

This thread is to discuss a donation drive to the Child's Play charity in order to bring positive attention to our respectful requests for an alternate ending to the Mass Effect series.

Child's Play is a charity which provides game hardware and software to Children's Hospitals around the world.  It was created by gamers and for gamers.

We are coordinating donations via the ChipIn service which acts as a neutral party to ensure all donations make it directly to the Child's Play charity.  ChipIn is the service officially recognized by Child's Play for coordination of online donation drives.  It also ensures that the donations are in the name of the cause and not any other party.  Donations can be made via Paypal.

Regardless of the outcome of this petition, we are proud to be fans of Mass Effect, and to support Child's Play.

This has leaped far beyond what I ever thought it might.  Thank you all who have supported this thread, regardless of your donation status.

Thank you.

Ok, but did you think it make sense to telling us that you won´t give any money? Just ignore the whole thing and do what ever you want instead of trolling in a clean discussion.

Ok folks... I'm a bit hesitant to post this... but *deep breath* here goes.

I tried my hand at making a video tribute to all of YOU - in this thread - helping with the cause whether it be with a 3 cent donation to make OneRabidAnt angry (hehe I still love that you do that btw ) or go without pizza - or just help spread the word... My emotions over this whole thing have been repeated over and over by me and others, but I can't express how much more awesome I feel today... than I felt after finishing the game.

So... in honor of all of YOU... I made this video to try and capture *my* emotions and thank you all.

We may want to brace for incoming attacks. A guy filed an FTC complaint and he and some others are making a huge deal about it.

If one of the news outlets opposed to us gets wind of this and decides to take off with it things could get hairy for awhile.

What is an FTC complaint?

Federal Trade Comission.  Basically he is claiming EA/BioWare practised false advertising and he decided to go the US government to complain about it.
