Goodbye returned unopened ME3 CE (still have my DDL), hello $80 for Child's Play.

To those who organized this, I salute you.

To Bioware:  Thanks for helping me see there was always a "fourth option" to your contrived "artistic" machinations.

In honor of the complete saga I hope that BioWare eventually gives us, Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3, I have chipped in $123.00.

Hey, BioWare? See the money I have to throw around on something like this? I'D USE IT ON NEW ENDING DLC, TOO, YOU KNOW?

Uhhh, I just thought of something. I don't mean to be "that guy", but how do we know this will get to Child's Play? ChipIn doesn't necessarily go straight to the cause it is saying. From the about page of ChipIn:

ChipIn allows anyone to collect money for a personal cause, group purchase, or fundraiser using their own custom ChipIn page.

So, ya, what guarantee do we have that whoever started this isn't going to pocket all the money and go "LOLOLOLOL you guys are noobs!"?

Here's a copy of my confirmation email. Looks legit to me. ;)

Thank you for starting this donation drive. Good to see the energy be focused through something positive. A good cause supported like this acts like soothing balm for troubled heart. This will help a lot of people and the money will certainly make a difference.

Donated.

Help bump this up on reddit! Even if you can't donate, if we can spike it to the front page, big deal.

Well, you could take it from the receipt from Pay Pal I got that said the donation went to the Child's Play Email address, but I suppose I could be 'in on it' and lying.  You may have to go on a little faith.  Know how hard that is right now.Image IPB

I would love to see this get traction in the press.

At the very least, the money given to children is a positive to come out of this awful ending.

Thank you to everyone who donated. I will when it is feasible for me to do so.

Alright, alright. I don't like being that guy. I just wanted to make sure this really was for a good cause. Geez, I think it's because it is just so unbelievable that in the last 24 or so hours we have already raised nearly $3000. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is more money going to Child's Play then EA or BioWare has ever donated.

It's not wrong to question, especially since you did it out of concern.  Believe me I sure as heck checked my reciept when I got it!

People we are going to get a lot worse thrown at us for this from some site like Kotaku.  Just be ready for it.

It's actually barely been 12 hours since the site was available for donations. If even that long. It's incredible.

-- Edit -- I stand corrected, just under 10 hours.

That's a good point. Although their flip flopping on the issue may make them a bit nicer.

Let them. It makes them look petty and vindictive. Attacking gamers for donating to a charity? Yup, that will go over well with other news outlets. And as smaller ones here about them attacking us, so will bigger ones. In the end it's a win for us. And then a win for the kids as more people side with us and come here to donate to the cause and to Childs Play.

'You contributed $50.00 to Retake Mass Effect - Child's Play'

Money that would have gone to the hipsters at Bioware. Thanks for organizing this. Glad it's going somewhere that might actually matter.

Dear Bioware, you'll never see another penny from my pocket. If I ever get the urge to buy one of your products, it will go to a charity instead.

Glad something good is coming out of this joke. The game review sites and developers mocking the ME community with this entitlement BS can kiss my ass.

Cheers.

We're obviously only doing this because we feel entitled to charities getting more money.
