I didn't think we had a leader. I thought we were an autonomous collective?

Thankfully there is no leader. It's just a collective of emotionally invested people speaking from the mind and heart about something they feel strongly about.
Turning this into a hierarchal/union type endeavor just ruins the spirit of it. All of our opinions are valid and important as long as they are conveyed in a mature and concise tone. I remember seeing someone mention something about press statements or something, and to that I just have to say.. we won't be making "press statements" as pretty much any media outlet with any base knowledge of the new fangled interweb can check out any of these forums to get our words directly from any member they choose to.
Just stay focused on the goal of getting BW to make the change we'd like, and keep promoting the charity where you can because of how genuine our interest is in making sure it succeeds. As long as everyone does that, the "movement" as it were will not die out.

I did have a pre owned copy of mass effect i got from a friend that didnt want it (due to the ending). So I played it and found my way here. (When the movement was only around 20-30K). I donated, of course and kept reading this and following the movement as a whole. I couldnt post because I couldnt add the game to my account. Now that we are at 60K (yay, congratulations!) I had to buy a copy for PC.. And now Im here!.
Im very proud of everyone that has gathered here and I think we are in our right minds to do this.
Im looking forward to seeing that krogan cake! Also, we seems like a pretty united bunch, it would be great to get together (regionally or state-wide, perhaps) and socialize! I do understand thats what forums are for, but you cant beat live interactions!
Reading all of these stories just motivates me to think positively. Thank you everyone for your efforts!
For a bright future for Shepard, the kids, and all of us gathered here under these circumstances!
Hold the line!

BBC News have a history of thorough and unbiased investigative reporting so fingers crossed.
Here is the email to them...
To Whom It May Concern,
I am emailing to alert you to a possible story that BBC News may be interested in from an entertainment or human interest perspective, and it is something that I would like to see reported on in the "mainstream" media, most especially the BBC because I feel like the BBC has the greatest chance of reporting on it in an accurate and unbiased manner.
As you may or may not be aware in recent years the Gaming Industry has grown exponentially year on year and is now "bigger" in terms of production values and revenue at some Development and Publishing Houses than Hollywood as a form of entertainment media; this is demonstrated by the prime time advertisements on Television for the bigger gaming releases of the year, notably Duke Nukem Forever, Modern Warfare 3, & The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim last year, and this year Mass Effect 3 (which was released in the UK on the 9th of this month).
Since the release of Mass Effect 3 (Developed by Bioware Corp, and published by Electronic Arts Inc) worldwide (from the 6th of March in North America onwards) there has been a developing controversy regarding the game, or more specifically it's ending which for many fans of the game and the franchise effectively ruins the whole thing for them. Obviously rabid fans raging about a tv show, movie saga, or games series moving in a direction they do not like is nothing new in this here Internet Age, and it is mostly and rightfully ignored.
What is interesting about this case is; firstly, the apparent and near universal disbelief and disdain that the fans have for the ending of this (IMO, fantastic) game (if the polls on various gaming jouralism websites and on the official Bioware Social Network site are anything to go by), secondly an organised internet protest group along the lines of the "Occupy..." movements has sprung up called RetakeMassEffect which has the state goals of convincing Bioware to release a patch or DLC (Downloadable Content) addon to patch out the ending and replace it with a new "better" one.
This has recieved a bit of attention on the online media already.
The bigger Gaming Journalism websites like IGN, Destructoid, VG247 have all been massively negative about the movement from its inception to the point of being outright nasty; the arguement of these outlets of "journalism" is that the people asking for the ending of the game to be changed are nothing more that stupid, whiny, self-entitled brats.
Example Link to Destructoid's opinion on the matter:
http://www.destructo...ng-223615.phtml
And one of IGN's Editors said this in an editorial video:
http://uk.ign.com/vi...3-opinion-video
The problem with the arguements of these paragons of gaming "journalism" is that they fundamentally misunderstood just what the arguement is about, and what the movement is for. And more fundamentally seemingly misunderstand the whole point of what a Video Game is.
To explain, the Mass Effect franchise are what is called Action RPGs (Role Playing Games) - a type of game where you step into the role of a character and play said character in the universe that is presented to you in the game or games - and the point of these types of games is that the player choses what to do with the character (within reason) and how to play the game. This is one of the central pillars of both RPGs in general and
Mass Effect in particular.
Which brings me to the dissatisfaction with the ending.
The ending introduces what is called a (IMO, nonsensical) Diabolus Ex Machina (http://tvtropes.org/...abolusExMachina) with no foreshadowing in the final 10 minutes of the game which actively contradicts pretty much the established storyline and lore of the entire preceeding trilogy, and also the ending in itself changes narrative style completely in the final 10 to 15 minutes of the game which is exceptionally jarring for the player in what is an otherwise immersive and rewarding gameplay experience.
You might be wondering why you should even care. What makes this a BBC worthy news story. And maybe it isn't; but I think it is.
You see what makes it interesting, as I said, is the fan response to the ending. The movement became known as RetakeMassEffect (Bioware Social Network Thread: http://social.biowar...5/index/9845819) which has its own Twitter Account (https://twitter.com/#!/RetakeME3) complete with a #RetakeMassEffect hash tag, it's own Facebook Page (http://www.facebook....ngToMassEffect3), and even now its own website (http://lugoentertain...3ending/#!/Home) and in response to accusations of being self-entitled and whiny the movement started a Donation Drive for a charity called Child's Play (http://childsplaycharity.org/) - a charity which supplies games and gaming equipment to terminally ill children - in order to disprove the assertion that those involved in the movement were selfish or self-entitled by literally putting their money where their mouth's are (http://retakemasseff...ect-childs-play).
Those who dislike the ending have been overwhelmingly positive about the whole thing in spite of near relentless criticism and derision from the larger (and some smaller) Gaming Journalism sites - sites that are obstensibly supposedly be for the gaming community (consumers) and not the gaming industry (publishers/developers), indeed Destructoid's little slogan is By Gamer's For Gamer's and yet they were one of the major outlets of gaming news that has been most vicious in their attacking the Retake Mass Effect movement, even the charity drive was view with contempt by this site (http://www.destructo...ty-223811.phtml).
Ironically one of the few online news outlets that has even attempted to defend the "fans"/consumers has been Forbes Magazine, the magazine of Big Business, who have posted a number of articles on the issue.
Forbes detail's in the above articles why the Retake Mass Effect movement exists, why it is a good thing, and why the major gaming news outlets dismissal of the movement is wrongheaded and simply wrong.
The fact that it is the magazine of business and industry that is attempting to protect the consumers, and the outlets that are supposedly there to defend the consumers are firmly on the side of the big business (EA/Bioware) is an irony that shouldn't be lost on you.
At the time of this email the Donation Drive has raised just over $60000 ($60123.11 exactly) that is a little under £40000 (£37949.77 exactly).
As consumers I firmly believe that we have a legal right to raise our complaints or offer constructive criticism over a product that we deem to be not fulfilling its advertised function, and to demand redress over it; and the fact that the major gaming journalism outlets such as IGN, Destructoid, GameSpot, VG247, PennyArcade etc, would all have us believe that Artistic License trumps that right is disgusting to me, and I find it has disturbing and dangerous implications on the state of an entire industry.
I am hoping that this email reaches someone sympathetic who is willing to shine a light on this issue in some form as I feel that while it is "only" a game, the whole arguement is interesting, and has some fairly troubling implications for the Gaming Industry (which as I said is bigger than Hollywood) that need tackling. And I trust the people at the BBC News would thoroughly investigate the issue and report on it fairly.
Yours with Thanks,
Mr (my name here)

Edited to fix the formatting of the email that the site ganked. Yikes.

I focussed on Forbes because they were the first really to stick up for us. Gamefront and the others only started after they spotted Forbes doing it.
And also I forgot about Gamefront lol.
EDIT:
I just realised I never really finished my point about gamer choice lol. Oops.

Spread the word and remember to do it in a civil and reasonable manner! Always try to set a positive Example!
We are showing the Gamingworld that our Arguments have merit and that this Charity Drive is not ment to "guilttrip" BioWare into giving in to us, but to give our Disappointment a positive Outlet, to enable the #RetakeMassEffect Movement to culminate in a good ending, no matter the Outcome of our actions.
We already defied all odds by collecting 60.000$ and rising for Child's Play!
Hold the Line Paragons of Protest (and enjoy your imaginary Krogan Cake!
