So... No comments on my email there?

Just went back and found it  - lots of excelent citations in there, you really brought together a lot of the best links on the subject. I like it, well written and fairly eloquent. I've seen some dismal ones (walls of text) posted to the facebook, yours is top-shelf.

Thank you.

I was going for something that got across the point and importance of the movement, while trying to portray both sides of the arguement (as I see them), and trying to remain as concise as possible.

Hopefully they will get back to me.

And hopefully they decide to report on it; I mean the BBC is the biggest broadcaster in the world (this is hyperbole - it really is)and they pride themselves on being unbiased and accurate in their reporting, which works in our favour. Getting them on side (by reporting as they do) would be a massive win for us.

Soo, good morning, fellow Paragons of Protest. How are we looking? Any news? I've been sleeping better lately now that I've recovered from the travesty of the ending of Mass Effect 3. But I still don't feel right playing the game. I can play Multiplayer well enough, for about an hour at a time. Because it has no real connection to the single player. For instance, I love my Quarian Engineer and her M-99 Sabre (rarest weapon in the game). I regularly top the point lists by 10,000 to 20,000 points. But... Still. Unless they fix the ending, I can't play the story mode. And I'll keep giving to the charity whenever I can. Because helping the blue babies makes me feel soooo much better in itself.

Hold the line. Keelah Se'Lai.
Shepard: "What if they won't LISTEN?"
Anderson: "Then MAKE them listen."

Hold the line. And then get this guy to make a video for the movement:   -- I don't agree, but it's a damn compelling vid.

Whoever started this, pat yourself on the back. This is very cool. It's civil. It makes a point. And no matter what it helps children in hospitals. Count me in.

Over $60,000! This is truly incredible, it is amazing to see such a positive outcome to this, hopefully BioWare will also change the ending. Resulting in more positivity, or something....

My 50K post :P

The Reapers come every 50,000 years to destroy all organic life.

The Paragons of Protest, while holding the line, raised $50,000 dollars for children in hospitals in 65 hours.

So, in tribute of that epic victory - and more to come...

*clears throat*

We all know the mission and what is at stake...

I have come to trust each of you with my emotions, but I have also heard murmurs of discontent with the Mass Effect endings. I share your concerns. We are trained for playing single player RPG video games; we would be loners, if not for this community.

Flaming in forum threads is not our way.

Think of our heroes, Commander Shepard, who defied all odds to acheive the impossible. Or the slowly emerging Positive press articles, who keep the trolls away with facts and logic.
These giants do not seem to add to our voice here, but they are not all that we are.
Before the charity drive, there was frustration. Before the frustration, we witnessed the "Ending".

Our influence brought us together to do something wonderful, but before that, we held the line!
Our influence stopped the media from calling us "entitled whiners", but before that, we held the line!

Our influence WILL make many children happy; in the battle today, we will

HOLD.THE.LINE.

Epicness!

One more thing... Blood Raptor Fleet from the USA reporting! ^vv^

Hi everyone, not sure if this has been linked here, and you all might be aware of it anyway, but an interesting discussion of PR tactics going on here:

Also, I haven't managed to be here for a while, but I wanted to thank everyone, again, for the amazing support, getting the message out, and staying positive. It's not always easy, I know.

We will hold the line!

That's a really good analysis. I'm not privy to the inner workings of PR, but it's been patently obvious from fairly early on that this protest has had them on the back foot nit just due to it's voracity but for the unprecedented form it's taken.

For me, the best thing about Retake is that while it ostensibly seems like a masterfully planned strategy, the unfolding of the protest has actually been thoroughly organic. Disappointment brought us here, generosity helped us to donate, and now enkindled hope keeps us here.

The message is out, that message is growing, the behemoth of media opinion is turning slowly in our favour, and we have but one thing left to do:

Hold the line.

back when the facebook group still had about 20.000 people someone said: "well, if everyone on facebook would spend 1 $ then we would have 20.000$ donated! wouldnt that be great?"

and everyone was like: "youre a dreamer m8, thatll never happen" :)

I dont need any PR tactics analisis right now :) Becouse if we belive them it means they arent working on the new ending yet, I myself like to fool myself that the Ednig DLC is almost ready and will be there to save ME3 in no longer than a month.

A nice little factoid here from the Wikipedia article on Child's Play, to put what's been done so far into perspective:

In less than one month of publicity and operation, [the first Child's Play] raised over $250,000 in cash and toys for the Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

And this charity drive has raised a quarter of that amount in five days. Really amazing stuff.

Also the Krogan children! Cause there's sure going to be a lot of them for those of us who cured the Genophage :P Life's been crazy, so it's been a few days since I've really been able to check in, but very happy to see that we're up over 60k! Amazing job everyone!

I've been perusing the boards, and I'm floored by the change in Bio/EA's tone over the last week. First ignoring it, then deflecting, then vague "we're listening" comments. Now they're openly taking suggestions for the end? Love it! We're making progress!

There has also been a change in the way the media is viewing us as well. The media are the folks who came up with the term "Paragons of Protest". Almost universally we are recognized as going about our protest "the right way". I love it and I am humbled by everyone here supporting the cause and helping raise awareness!

Oh - and thanks to the people quoting and liking my 50K Captain Kirrahe speech. Thanks! *big grin*

Last but not least -

Hold the line!

Haha, yeah, Forbes seems to be our new best friend now. They've got what, 10 articles supporting the general protest? And I know a couple of them are specifically about the charity drive. Who would have thought that the biggest champion for gamers would be a financial site?
