Rather than asking for a refund, I would like to challenge EA to
"match" our Child's play donation when the time runs out on the current
chip-in charity.

1 ) this would be a fantastic PR move on EA's
part and would show that they are paying attention to our desire to turn
our frustration into something positive.

2 ) It would benefit
the kids, and help motivate more people to join the drive to raise
funds. We have a lot more members of DemandABetterEnding than we do have
contributors to the charity (as fantasic as 65k sounds, imagine if all
39k of the facebook members donated just 4 dollars each!). I know not
everyone can donate, but having a 'competition' between us and EA would
be a healthy, positive thing, rather than a spiteful one.

Just a thought.

While it would be a nice gesture on EA's part, every company has a fund dedicated to social responsibility and charitable work. I know the company I work for spends, literally, hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, a year on local charities that their locations are involved with. That's only counting local initiatives driven by small groups of employees. Charitable donations for the company, overall, in 2011 were somewhere between $25,000,000.00 - $30,000,000.00.

While EA doesn't even come close to us, in terms of size or profits, a $65,000 donation / tax write-off for a company of their size isn't really a big hit: they're still a Fortune 500 company, I think. That said, it would be great for Child's Play if Bioware/EA did match the contribution, regardless of whatever else happens.

However, the point of asking for a refund is not to give EA an awesome PR oppurtunity. It is to make a point, in one of the oldest ways a customer can, that the product or service provided does not function, or perform, as advertised and as a result we're owed our money back. Thousands of people requesting refunds for the same reason isn't something that can be ignored or dismissed by a corporation.

I've seen people lose their career over less: breaking the customer's trust is to be avoided at all cost.

Hmm, I already feel strange about this, and now I feel even more weird posting this in the (more or less) dead of night. I am conflicted whether to post this here since it smacks of self-promotion. But I thought I would let everyone know that a couple of us did get interviewed by a reporter from GameFront.com this afternoon. I truly hope I don't come off as trying to take credit for any of this, because none of this would have been possible without everyone here working together. In any case, after the... um... @#$%storm in this thread (http://social.biowar.../index/10201641), I thought I'd let everyone know what was coming and really hope everyone is OK with us doing the interview...

just throwing in my two cents here.  It is true that we have no Official leaders.  It is true that we are all in this together.  It is true that everyone is helping out, not just a few people.

BUT, it is also true that there is NOOOOO way they could interview everyone, and if your going to pick a few people, you go to the source.  I think i speak for more than just myeself here when i say that I am delighted we are receiving this media coverage and that they picked such fine people to talk to.  And of course, to anyone else who happens to get interviewed, always be civil, but don't give them an inch either.  We know our stance.....And We Are Not Backing Down.

The point of my suggestion would be to create a healthier atmosphere between us and EA, not to break their budget... in fact, I'd be counting on the idea that they can afford to do something like this. It would certainly change the playing field, though I'm not sure it would be a one-sided improvement. I think it would help our side as well, showing everyone that EA respects our position.

But, y'know. It was just an idea.

Hi Unique,

It takes a lot guts and resolve to take initiative on such a controversial issue, where you know you will be attacked by some people no matter what you do. But you did it, and it completely changed the Hold the Line movement's image in main stream media and on these boards. No matter how the GameFront interview turns out, know that I have a lot respect for your courage and initiative, and participating in the promotion of this donation drive has given me a lot of joy joy feelings over the past 4 days.

To show their respect all they gotta do is get an ending dlc, not double the charity. I think the charity is doing fine as it is (I mean Im not complaining). I just dont want us all to forget what the point of the whole thing. We raise money to raise awareness of the situation, show how dedicated we are (and help the kids along the way). If EA was to help the donation most likely they'd be "heres your donation, now leave us alone".

I didn't mean for it to be spiteful. I just believe that even going through the motions of attempting returns, on a large scale, would spark attention from part of the corporation that may simply ignore this otherwise.

Take for instance a Keurig coffee maker that I purchased. I was told that it would make 'great' coffee. Turns out that for me, it makes mediocore coffee at best. There's no way I would've known that without purchasing it and trying it out. I returned it and got my $100 back, no ill-will, no spite, just a simple business transaction. I have no option of doing that with a game, yet I still have to purchase it, largely, sight unseen.

A company will listen to all the feedback in the world, but unless there's a business reason to implement a change, they may simply listen, without action, until people stop talking. That said, this is turning into a PR ****-storm that may provide just that impetus. It's also showing, through donations to Child's Play, that the people involved have money, will spend money, and are serious.

Like Rocketboy said in the post above, it would be great if they did match the Child's Play donation. However, our goal was to have ME3 ended on a note worthy of the franchise its concluding: not the train-wreck in place now.

A large scale attempt, successful or not, to return their product may likely result in action that simply talking about it won't. It shows that people feel they weren't delivered the product they were promised, and sets a very real tone that whoever is calling asking for a refund likely will not be a repeat customer.

Made a post in another thread asking what might happen if we all asked for a refund. I think, obviously, that the idea has some merit, but I'm only linking it here because its original thread seems to be getting buried fast.

I, for one, would gladly done the $79.99 refund into the Charity, to which I already donated. If only to make the point that I would rather give my money away than support a company that behaves in a manner that I don't like, or allow them to keep money for a product that doesn't perform to expectations.

Would anyone else be interested in giving this a go?

I hae boycotted (is that a word? hah) all things EA and BioWare since the ending. However, I still have hope they actually fix the ending someday (I know it will not be soon (especially if they have to get the voice actors involved and such)) but I have hope we can hold the line and get a better ending. To that end, I need to hold on to my copy of the game. Because if they can fix the endings, I have another 8 or so characters to play through it with. Posted Image

But I agree in part. All my money that would be spent on multiple SW TOR accounts, DLC and such - is going to the charity drive.
