Just realised that even if we pull this off, Mass Effect will never have an ending worthy of the series.
It feels like it would simply be too big a task to make it anything more than "okay"...let alone give us the multitude of endings we had hoped for

I saved snajones epic $50K mark speech for moments such as these:

My 50K post :P

The Reapers come every 50,000 years to destroy all organic life.

The Paragons of Protest, while holding the line, raised $50,000 dollars for children in hospitals in 65 hours.

So, in tribute of that epic victory - and more to come...

*clears throat*

We all know the mission and what is at stake...

I have come to trust each of you with my emotions, but I have also heard murmurs of discontent with the Mass Effect endings. I share your concerns. We are trained for playing single player RPG video games; we would be loners, if not for this community.

Flaming in forum threads is not our way.

Think of our heroes, Commander Shepard, who defied all odds to acheive the impossible. Or the slowly emerging Positive press articles, who keep the trolls away with facts and logic.
These giants do not seem to add to our voice here, but they are not all that we are.
Before the charity drive, there was frustration. Before the frustration, we witnessed the "Ending".

Our influence brought us together to do something wonderful, but before that, we held the line!
Our influence stopped the media from calling us "entitled whiners", but before that, we held the line!

Our influence WILL make many children happy; in the battle today, we will

HOLD.THE.LINE.

Makes me feel hopeful every time I need a pick-me-up

I don't think an ending worthy of the series was ever an option.  No ending is going to answer every question.  But I think BW can deliver and ending that isn't full of massive plot holes and and ending that isn't so incredibly depressing and crippling to any continuation of the universe.  There's no doubt that any alteration will take a lot of time, but I still have faith in BW.  They're incredible story tellers and good people.  Hang in there and have a little faith. ^_^

This!

It's really all up to BioWare. But we have a thing we keep saying where I work - "control the things you can control and let go of the things you can't."

We can control our emotions (I feel much better ever since getting involved in this thread Posted Image ) we can control our responses to BioWare when they ask for feedback - or - in my case - not giving them any more money until we get some kind of satisfactory ending - we canNOT control what BioWare is doing right now - or what they will do in the future. Our love for BioWare and the Mass Effect franchise has us fighting for a better ending. A better ending for Shepard, a better ending for the crew, a better ending for the entire galaxy! The one ending we CAN control, is the happy ending for the kids. Posted Image

BUT, for a good pick me up - when getting a little down - I always re-watch Captain Kirrahe's speech! Or - do a search on the speech for Saint Crispin's day. Posted Image

We are all in this together! Control what you can control, let the rest go.

EDIT: Awwwww... thanks catgirl789 Posted Image

and most importantly,

Hold the line!

I think this is a very positive way to have our voices heard. Count me in. I've officially donated to CP and hope this movement continues strong! Thank you to those who have organized this. I'm proud to be part of it.

Whether or not we get our endings, whether or not we get an ending...this will take time. We have to be patient. Remember Baldur's Gate 2? There's a good example of what Bioware can do. Remember Mass Effect two, the endings? That's what I'm imagining. Little bits, all put together and endings based on that. We can do this. We can expect Bioware to fix this.

All we need to do is hold the line. Not for a day, a week...it may take months. But if we hold strong, we will see the true ending.

It would be nice if BioWare could just release a toolset to allow the fans to create their own endings (we'd already have several epic ones by now going by the YouTube vids) but that obviously can't happen because it'd eat into their DLC income... :(

Is anyone who's part of the Retake ME3 campaign going to PAX? I hope so. I'm no where near it, otherwise I'd be there with a giant picket sign. I'd love to flip to some G4 coverage to see a hundred disgruntled ME fans making their voices heard.

Are any of the endings your thinking of possible without dialogue?

It's just that for a lot of people it wouldn't feel the same without the VA's. I'm sure they would still be epic.

speaking of which... I just thought of Conrad Verner..
Starts out as a practical Shepard fanboy, takes 2 games before Shepard convinces him
he can make a difference in his own way....

starts a children's charity.

There are a couple made using clips from Liara and Tali that work. It'd have to use creative editing, but it's possible to make something pretty good. Still, it'd be much better and far more satisfying to have some original dialogue.

Oh Christ-I didn't bother to check.

None of these hospitals are psych units are they?

Good lord, I don't want my money inadvertently providing a copy of ME3 to play for some poor kid suffering from schizophrenia or manic depression. That would be horrible!

a constructive collective for not only its opinion heard but for a good cause can only show the maturity and civility level in mass effect's fanbase.

could any other game developer or game say the same about its community?

Aw crud, is ChipIn down again?

Edit: Never mind, the problem was on my end. Incidentally, have you tried scrolling down from the top of the RSS feed to the bottom lately? It takes forever to get through all of the donations.:D
