Just checking in while I'm at lunch, great job on $76,000 guys! Never thought we would gain this much support, thanks to everyone who has donated, or will be donating, and to everyone who has supported us and spread the word about the charity! I'll be back later to check in, until then.

Hold the Line!

Kinda. He acknowledged our disappointment, but in the same breath he was talking about how all the critics love it. Gain some hope from it, but do not let off the pressure. Keep pressing them.

Hold the line for as long as it takes.

Anyway, this quote is quite interesting: "Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. You’ll hear more on this in April."

That ME PAX panel was April 6th, right?? Can't wait to hear what they have to say!

Personally, this quote is the best news I heard all day:
This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue.

I mean, even a proper ending is still an ending. I am not done with this series. Not by a long shot.

Everyone, I know that article gives us hope and says we are making an impact. However don't let up, don't stop holding the line, sure he's said it but it doesn't mean that he's going to actually do anything or that they are, this may be another PR Move. It may not and I want to believe as much as ANY of you do that it isn't but I must be the voice of anger here before everyone forgets, not rude anger but polite righteous anger. I know that it has felt like a long time struggling, I know it has been rough and morale is hard to keep up some days. But hold the line my friends, Snajones kids are able to donate and help hold the line, Eirilith donated her food budget and held the line, Drow has created beautiful posters and held the line while doing it. So many have made so many sacrifices for our movement that I cannot name them all, those are but a handful, I have not forgotten the others but I am horrible with names. So my friends, my Comrades...

Hold The Line!

Pretty sad that they still seem to think that there is some sort of disparity between the "artistic vision" and our demands.

Isn't the whole point of this to restore the artistic vison they had for ME?
The ending is completely divorced from both the lore and the spirit of the series as a whole.
It's not the fans who are disrespecting artistic integrity here, it's (ironically) the Devs. For whatever reason that might be (My money is still on time restraints)

We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received.

Hope that doesn't mean no change to endings, rather an attempt to explain why it ended that way.
Don't know how I feel about that, but anything that shines a ray of hope for the story continuing or
even an epilogue is better than possible prequel content I've heard discussed.
Leaving the "ending" the way it is would sour any prequels with the knowledge that it all ends in disaster anyway.

As far as I see it...this is just our first victory in this war! One of the big Bioware chiefs acknowledged that there are "some fans" which are displeased with the endings. Next battle is: what are they going to do about it?

And as we all know, victory is already ours! Happy sick kiddo's for the win! :innocent:

With respect, anger is not the word I would choose. Nor is it used on the Retake ME donation site. Anger is not why I donated to this iniative.

They have a right to end the game any way they see fit. Just as it is our right to disagree with it. Donating to Childs Play is our (very positive) way of letting them know we disagree with how they wrapped things up.

And the man also correctly points out that, despite what you may think of the ending, the rest of the game is still excellent.

By all means, keep donating. The children won't mind. But anger? Nah. And lets give Bioware a chance to set things right.

Read the blog post by Muzyka. A victory, but not what I was hoping for. Felt kinda sad.

Added another 20 dollars to the pot. Feel good now :)

Looks like the gaming media is picking up on Doc Muzyka's post. Kotaku has an article already.

Don´t know how to react of some points he made. Oh boy, this whole story is so hard. I like BioWare so much and I´m fan sice the time Baldurs Gate was released. I have every game and there´s no doubt that I spent more hours in BioWare games then any other single player Game. But things like DA 2 and the end of ME3 I can´t understand, it´s like they don´t care about their own work, and especially the feelings and emotions of their to-the-death-fans like me.

It´s so confusing...must donate...hopefully I feel better. :crying:

They have to understand why theyre getting high scores for the game. The game in itself is great! If someone who had not played the whole franchise or didnt really care for the story might think "hell yeah! Im a hero" and be happy, however those who love the franchise understand how crappy this ending is and how much it goes against what mass effect has established in the past. Sure, If Im a critic and I review dozens of games monthly, this would stand out as a 9/10 game. We, however, are different.

I have hope.  At least something is going on and they're doing something with the things we say.

Also, I'd like to inform you that the biggest news-site in the Netherlands just put an article online about Muzyka's blog, and our movement (though not by name) is mentioned.

By the way...did anybody notice that we've made it to the Mass Effect 3 entry on Wikipedia??

"Displeased fans organized an internet campaign called "Retake Mass Effect" to demand a better ending to the game, part of which includes a charity drive for the organization Child's Play. The drive has raised over $70,000."

Nice, that's the second article they've done on us. :) (even though they're just copies from gamer.nl)

Hmm. While I would like tO believe what he said in that article, I also have to recognize that this could very well just be a PR trick. I'm taking this with a very large grain (boulder) of salt. I'm not saying to disregard what he said. Just be careful what you believe. And remain ever respectful. One thing that many of the articles have said is how shocked they are that we are remaining so civil, and constructive. This gives us leverage and power. A calmer voice is a voice that is heard. I believe it was Roosevelt that said "walk softly and carry a big stick". Be civil, but speak words that carry weight and conviction. We are making history. Impacting how people see gamers. People will remember this. Let's make this something that we can be proud of when we hear people speaking about it in the future.

Keelah Se'lai. Hold the line.

This is pretty much how I feel about it exactly. I would've elaborated earlier but I had to rush to class in a building that reserves internet for the researchers and grad students only.<_< Still you pretty much captured my feelings in a nutshell. We got them to acknowledge us and admit they need to do at least something about the ending. Still we musn't give up, for even if we found out the indoctrination theory was true tomorrow, this drive goes on to  April 11th and until then, and again at the next drive, we must hold the line!
