I gave for those kids, not for our cause. I support the charity and I recognize they were in a tough spot and I respect their decision. No matter what happens with the games ending we made 80k for children, that's more important.

Thanks for those kind words! :D

lol some pro-enders have been getting banned for trolling. I think the number of supporters they have has gone down in to the single digits.

Stay civil guys.

Hold the line.

Thanks for promoting keeping the peace.  It's a hard path, but it's usually the most fullfilling.

I'm gonna go against my fellow "leadership peoples" (god it's weird to put myself in that category <_<) on this. I'm with Victoria. If they have a problem with us getting them donations - someone else is more deserving.

I won't ask for my money back, but I can damn well assure you they won't be getting any more from me. There's plenty of other places that would love to have this kind of donation base, whether or not they get mean-spirited e-mails.

So...someone suggested an $80k banner. I don't know if I'm who you were talking to, but I'll go ahead and make one. And if anyone involved in any more efforts want artwork done, I'll be happy to do what I can, whether it's for another charity or something else entirely. Because when I saw the ending, I was heartbroken and hurt...when I saw this drive, I was hopeful and uplifted...when I saw the reaction some people had, I was incredulous and disappointed...and now? Now...I'm angry. Very, very angry...and I don't plan on simply letting that simmer.

I'm sorry to see this come to an end, I was really looking forward to hitting that $100,000 mark. Still, as others before have said, we have accomplished what we set out to do. As we've said from the beginning no matter what happens we have at least one happy ending, for the kids. Let us not turn our frustration at Child's Play being slandered and forced to ask us to stop out on the charity itself, I'm sure they were looking forward to us hitting that $100,000 mark more than any of us, but if this movement would hurt the children more than help them we must withdraw gracefully. Might I be so bold as to suggest that we change the url on our banners to the main Child's Play site? This way we still might be able to help them out.

I have heard many inspiring stories and met many wonderful people on this thread, and I'm proud of every single one of us for helping to support the movement in some small way.

Be polite, maintain integrity, but Hold the Line!

Sorry you feel that way about getting your money back,  but I would most definitely use one of those 80K banners.

It's been such a pleasure, catgirl.  I can't tell you how wonderful it has been to work with you on this.  I hope we get to work on future charity endeavors together.  In the mean time, I'll keep holding that line until I get blasted by Harbinger.

I understand their position, given how the journalists reacted. I really hoped we could hit the 100k mark.

Same to you, it's been an honor. But I won't let you get blasted, otherwise you might end up meeting the God Child, and nobody wants that.;)

Gimme a couple hours to get some stuff done IRL and I'll get to work on one. Do you want a specific character one, or somehting in general, or...?

Take your time ;)

Something general would probably be best.  I'm sure a lot of people will want to use one now that the CP drive has officially been wrapped up.

I would have loved to have seen $100k, but it looks like that's not going to happen. Sigh. I hate it when people are dumb.

Ditto.  But dumb people existing (and thriving) is facts of life.  Completely unavoidable.  I'm so lucky to have not encountered any in this thread. :)

Stand strong brothers and sisters,
Stand united in the face of a superior enemy,
Stand proud in knowing you did right,
Stand tall knowing right will prevail in the end,
Stand now with me brothers and sisters,
United in arms,cause and ideals,
The battle is over but the War just begins!

That 80k will be from the kindness of our hearts. Gives a positive feeling every time I think about that instead of the negative issue of why they stopped us donating.

I think it's great that CPC got what it got, it's a shame that no good deed goes unpunished in this world though.

If people really were sending them hate mail I really don't know what to say about that... it's god damn repulsive.

i'm not going to withdraw my money. I gave it so that sick kids in hospitals can hopefully get the same enjoyment we get from books, games etc at a time when a little happieness is really appreciated.
The pleasure i got from donating has been soured a bit by the attitudes of all those who've attacked and derided our motivations and the movement in general. And while i understand the charity has to keep good relations with people who might not donate if they think child's play is associated with Retake masseffect i do feel a bit let down that we seem to be getting judged by the worst of us even by the charity we're giving money too.

But taking my money back would feel like proving those who deride us as selfish, entitled as a bit right. I know why i donated and going back on that just means the kids who'd benefit from the money are the only ones missing out.
I'm not judging anyone who does take their money back though, especailly if your giving it to another charity you feel you can trust better.

I would love a banner too. Obviously I'm partial to Garrus :P but I can go for whatever you decide to make. I'm just glad there's someone around who can make them at all =]

Can I just say it has been a honor to be part of this movement. You guys turn anger and disappointment into something that will benefit others, that's already an amazing achievement!

Keep holding the line everyone! Don't let anything ruin the positive attitude!

Wait a minute... what happened? Pro-enders complained to the guys at Child's Play and annoyed them enough to shut it down or... was someone else complaining? Why the hell should ANYONE complaining matter in this situation? What the **** does a couple of antagonistic emails, no matter from whom it may be, matter when 80K is raised for charity? Who the hell do these guys think they are?

Regardless of what others may think, I thank those who donated. This was a noble idea and I am glad that its over before things could have started to look bad.

Thanks for the very kind words.  Redirecting the so-called "nerd rage" was always a goal.  I'm glad it worked for some people. :D
