Oh Keela, this is a powder keg that about to set off a room full of powder kegs..

This worries me as well.

It also doesn't help that this is putting the bioware mods in a hard place, if they lock thread that are getting out of control over this it can be seen as a "we were right" action.

This is VERY VERY bad.

Ok so earlier today I saw a thread that labled the Retake Movement as "terrorists". The thread was locked of course. But it kinda makes me laugh:

Retake Movement: Sends 80K to a Charitable Organization. They may have an agenda behind it, but they have done good.

Haters: Uses hate-mail and fear against a charitable organization to pressure them into refusing our support.

I'm gonna go look up terrorist in the dictionary...

Truth.

Jumping to another Charity though might seem like a good idea but it is not. Because the media will have a field day and they will tear us apart.

Ugh! This is so unfortunately true. This whole situation makes me sick. We can't even give money to a charity for fear of being -ridiculed- by these "journalists."

But Heather Cline's right. Just starting with a new charity will make it seem like we didn't care at all about Child's Play and that it's all about us seeking attention.

This is truly a sad world we live in. :crying:

I urge you not to request a refund from the charity. This sends out completely the wrong message and undermines everything we've done. I accept that you can be annoyed that they've stopped accepting donations from us as a group but asking for a refund is the wrong way to deal with it.

I love how this is going to turn things right back around on the Gaming Press. Their self-entitled, arrogant bull**** led to a charity drive being shut down.

$50 says not one of them covers this story.  Unless of course you request a refund...  Don't request a refund.

Please everyone, if we jump to another Charity we set the wrong message, please for now just do your best to support the cause. Bring peoples morale back up, we don't want to send any major messages. All I ask is a little patience on your behalf. Thank you.

I'm not sure how we're setting the wrong message.

People donate to charities for various reasons. Some donate to charities only because they, or someone close to them, got the disease or experienced the trauma etc. at some point. We don't sit here splitting hairs over their motives being "selfish".

$100k to charity is $100k to charity. Period. No negatives to starting up another charity.

I agree with both here. Adding the Retake movement to another charity may make us seem opportunistic, but that doesn't mean that we as a community can't check out other worthwhile charities and tell fellow posters about them. Make it an independent thing.

I personally was very impressed by the charity drive and proud of all the community members who participated. Thank you for the good thing you did for the kids.

Now, let's stop it with the conspiracy theories, baseless accusations, and blame, and, if you guys still want to do something constructive with your movement, then do something constructive with it instead of wallowing in something that capped off a "very good thing to do." You guys should be proud of yourselves.

PLEASE can everyone keep the speculation to the absolute minimum, if not avoid it alltogether.

Just isnt needed and rumours against anybody, person, organisation or even tabloid journo (ok, maybe not the latter) is just going to get more threads locked, and rightly so.

Damn, this is very unfortunate.  I understand why Child's Play wants to be impartial in this but this... I don't know.  I'm going to continue to hold the line but it's really hard to see where we can go from here.

Folks,

Let's try to get word about this to the media - CNN, Fox News, BBC, whomever will listen. What was done to this charity is unacceptable.

Guys, if you haven't liked the Retake facebook page, you better do so. Threads are dropping like flies, despite this entire movement being directly tied to the campaign and story of ME3. I get that a lot of the commentary isn't DIRECTLY towards the story, but, this is the way the cookie crumbles.

If you guys are gonna pick another charity please consider the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I feel bad for asking and even looking like I'm begging but I would REALLY appreciate it and I would be grateful if awareness for this illness increases and with the amount of people willing to support I would be so very happy. I myself have it and I have lost a brother and a couple of other friends due to it. Pleaseee consider? : D

Gl guys. Hold the line.

Yeah guys I'm in for this one.  Cystic Fibrosis sucks.

They see the most loud mouthed complainers and then group everyone together with those. Then the charity looks like something to hide behind when you act like a jerk on the internet, when in fact the people donating appear to be the most civil ones here, not the ones making demands or using personal attacks.

And to everybody else. He's right. Please don't let this damage the positive momentum we've had for so much of this whole thing.

Can we focus on the positive?

Regardless of what happened, we raised $80,000. That's no small feat.

I'm extremely confused about how donating to a charity to help sick children could in any way be misconstrued as something negative. Here's what you do with hate mail: click delete.

WHO THREATENS A CHARITY OVER A FRIGGIN' VIDEOGAME?????????
Whichever sick f... did this...
And they DARE tell US to chill out because it's " only a game"?
THEY DARE???

I need to sign off...or else I am really done with being civil.
This is the friggin' last straw.
I hate the internet.

I know you're upset, I am too, but we need to stay strong and civil and continue to hold the line.

Upset? How about furious?
How about absolutely apalled?
A day ago, I was about to write a lengthy message about how this should not be treated like a "war" between BW, us and those who liked the ending.
Guess what?
Apparently, I was wrong. I really had no idea that anyone would even consider attacking a charity.
But then again...this invalidates their claims anyway.
Since why should we, who have turned our anger into something positive, listen to a bunch of &$§%(() (to avoid a ban) who decided attacking a charity was a reasonable thing to do?
Godsdamnit....us humans really are vile beings.

Fully agreed, but does not stop fear of more "zealot" members, who tend to think gun a blazing is the right action.

In a room of 10 calm level headed people who are mature and kind, people tend to notice the 11th one who screaming at the top of their lungs allot more.
