Too bad all the mods are closing every topic about picking a new charity to support.
Just post it on off-topic.

I personally was very impressed by the charity drive and proud of all the community members who participated. Thank you for the good thing you did for the kids.
Now, let's stop it with the conspiracy theories, baseless accusations, and blame, and, if you guys still want to do something constructive with your movement, then do something constructive with it instead of wallowing in something that capped off a "very good thing to do." You guys should be proud of yourselves.

Can we focus on the positive?
Regardless of what happened, we raised $80,000. That's no small feat.
Well, I'm assuming the 80K is still going to Child's Play, as it should. I was suggesting we move to another charity for subsequent donations. I think it's still the best way of doing good with our feelings of disappointment.Rosery99 wrote...

Thanks, Stanley.
And to everybody else. He's right. Please don't let this damage the positive momentum we've had for so much of this whole thing.

The only answer to this is to start a new charity and raise even more money.
I like how we are being told we should be proud about doing this but then told not to talk about it or tell anyone.

Folks,
Let's try to get word about this to the media - CNN, Fox News, BBC, whomever will listen. What was done to this charity is unacceptable.

Of course, we should also continue to give constructive feedback to Bioware about the reasons why we find the ending to be inadequate. At least with the charity, though, we are drawing something good out of something bad.

The drive was, as always, a little two-faced.
On one hand, it was a "let's do something nice with all these angry people" and in that sense, we succeeded beyond our wildest dreams. We donated $80,000 to Child's Play. Don't let ANYBODY tell you that was a bad thing. There are going to be a pile of happier children because of what we did. Believe me, it helps - I spent some time in a hospital when I was nine, and playing on the N64 that somebody donated was wonderful.
On the other hand, we also did it for our own reasons: To raise awareness of our grievances, to let people know we were more than just a rioting crowd of angry fans, and to disprove the "we're entitled gamers" myth.
While Child's Play was thematically appropriate, it shouldn't be a surprise that this happened. In retrospect, it would have been better to choose another charity that was a little more distant from what we're arguing about. Perhaps the Red Cross, or something, I don't know. Regardless, what's done is done.
Most importantly of all, I ask that everyone who donated PLEASE just let things lie. The cause is good, and the reason that it was shut down is understandable. Do not prove everyone that mocked our efforts right by asking for a return on your donation.

I'm extremely confused about how
donating to a charity to help sick children could in any way be
misconstrued into something negative. Here's what you do with hate mail:
