I just wanted to post this here :

http://www.fullparagon.com/?page_id=18

"Full Paragon (http://www.fullparagon.com), a new Mass Effect fan-initiated fundraising campaign, soared off this morning with a brand new site and a cheeky name that gives a nod to the "paragon/renegade" actions and choices players face in the game series. One of the organizers took the time to discuss her hope to unite Commander Shepards everywhere with a new fundraising campaign.

"We're definitely inspired by the generous fans who raised money recently, but we're not planning to recreate ReTake," responded Anabel Martinez, one of Full Paragon's organizers who is also a passionate Mass Effect series fan. She's referring to the ReTake Mass Effect 3 campaign that was brought to a halt after raising over $80,000 over the past 9 days for the popular video game charity Child's Play. "Some fans are looking for a place to follow in the footsteps of the ReTake campaign."

Is this another effort for, as critics proclaim, fans to "whine" about ME3's ending?

Anabel disagrees. "The Mass Effect community has always been giving, from gaming marathons to Facebook fundraisers." She, like many other fans from online communities like Reddit and Bioware's own Social site, are eager to find another way for fans to contribute to a good cause.

The Full Paragon campaign reached out to Kids Need to Read, a charitable foundation started by author PJ Haarsma, actor Nathan Fillion, and Executive Director Denise Gary, which focuses on supporting children's literacy.

According to their website, "Kids Need to Read works to create a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to underfunded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children."

"Mass Effect is a story-driven series with an incredibly rich universe. The trilogy has attracted a passionate following of imaginative, giving people who want to open up exciting new worlds to children through books and stories in the same way Mass Effect did for the players. We're elated to be supporting Kids Need to Read, for their efforts in raising children's literacy all across America." "

Glad to see the positive energy is still out there.  Good on ya.  I'm very appreciative that you (and others) took the time to and language to distance yourselves from the current Retake charity.  I think that's a very good thing.  Keep up the good work, guys.

I support this. Image IPB

Great news on the Full Paragon initiative! I'm just a little cautious about the payment method. Does anyone know how secure Razoo is? The page where I would be submitting my debit card details doesn't seem to have any special security.

I keep seeing posts that ridicule Retake because they are demanding their money back. I've thus far only seen two people say they were going to do so. Two.

Am I missing lots of posts or are people generalizing again?

PA released a statement (posted above somewhere) in which they stated, "We’ve also been contacted by PayPal due to a high number of people asking for their donations back."  So there you go.

PA has been pretty beligerantly against anyone who challenges Bioware, considering they have a comfy relationship. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was all made up, considering the stuff they've done in the past.

Well, I don't like to assume the worst, but if their statement is untrue, we will never never never know about it.

In my opinon : whats done is done. A great thing was done not just for the children but also the families. When medical comes in and things get tight comfort is the first to go. We just simply need to apprecaite that, and if CP can't afford to take the PR hit to receive donations than ive linked a charity who appreciates what we've done and what we can do.

You should probably delete this.

Pretty sure NO ONE held the line FOR THE CHILDREN. They held the line TO GET A NEW ENDING.

Pretty sure this is why people are getting upset over the movement/chartity linked to it.

I am not. But I can see this being fuel to the fire right now.

That was the charity slogan from the beginning. It stays.

Edit: When I read that back to myself it sounded really inflammatory.  I get where you're coming from.  And I didn't mean to come off as rude. Sorry!

Did you not see me say that I don't have an issue?

But very easy for people to use it to fuel the fire over the charity right now.

IDC keep it up. It has zero effect on me.

I don't think MassEffected was trying to troll. We're all just a little on edge and defensive. Myself included.

Edit: 'd by Mass Effected.  Sorry again!!!

No problem.  Like I said it is just something very easy to misunderstand and for people to turn against us.

Slept on the shutdown of the Retake donation drive, as I promised.

Still somewhat saddened by the sudden turn of events, but if I try REALLY hard I can see where Child's Play is coming from.
Mind you... I have to make a conscience decision to try really hard to be open minded about this and not assume the worst, especially in light of Penny Arcade's latest post that essentially says most of us are asking for refunds.

THAT is something that bothers me the most. Not that people are asking for refunds... as I don't think many, if any, are at all.
All the comments I ever read on the donation site were pretty well written and the huge majority of people knew that Child's Play was the true cause.

What makes me equally angry and depressed is how the media and forums trolls are now already trying to use this to discredit all the good we did. THAT just makes me sick to my stomach.
