That was the charity slogan from the beginning. It stays.
Edit: When I read that back to myself it sounded really inflammatory. I get where you're coming from. And I didn't mean to come off as rude. Sorry!
No problem. Like I said it is just something very easy to misunderstand and for people to turn against us.
No, no, I get it. It's just been a tough 10 hours and we're all ready to go on the defensive for this project (oh the irony

Yeah I understand. I was the same way whenever I talked about the Indoc theory, as I am sure people noticed
(notice how you don't see me in those threads anymore)
But yeah totaly understandable and no worries. I think we are all on edge at this point.

Slept on the shutdown of the Retake donation drive, as I promised.
Still somewhat saddened by the sudden turn of events, but if I try REALLY hard I can see where Child's Play is coming from.
Mind you... I have to make a conscience decision to try really hard to be open minded about this and not assume the worst, especially in light of Penny Arcade's latest post that essentially says most of us are asking for refunds.
THAT is something that bothers me the most. Not that people are asking for refunds... as I don't think many, if any, are at all.
All the comments I ever read on the donation site were pretty well written and the huge majority of people knew that Child's Play was the true cause.
What makes me equally angry and depressed is how the media and forums trolls are now already trying to use this to discredit all the good we did. THAT just makes me sick to my stomach.
I have to say, that this is really the only thing that peevs me. They didn't have to use the word "high". I know people make silly writing mistakes, but that one had a big effect on morale over here. I don't believe that the number could possibly be legitimately "high", but their definition and mine could be very different.

I agree with this. It is sad...
but...
We have to pick ourselves up, dust off and be ready for when Marauder Shields comes around the corner...
Hold the line!

I really wish they would update the wording to exact numbers. I would like to be able to help fill out any money that may have been lost.

Also, you need to stop calling people "trolls" if you don't like their opinion.(and it was friendly advice) Especially if you don't even know what they are saying. I hear that a lot. Some one disagrees they are a "troll".
It really isn't helping with this childish behavior.

Yeah. Like I said, we're all a little defensive this morning. And to be fair, we've had our fair share of legitimate trolls so we're usually on the look out.

You'd think we'd be flooded with these sorts of threads if there was indeed this "high number" of people.
I'm saddened, am fine with the overall policy change, question the reasons and worry that this gut punch is slowing down the outcry against the ending.

I second this!!
I would gladly donate to help make up for any supposed refunds to bring us back to a completely legitimate 80k.
I honestly wonder if there is any way we can do this?

Anyway, if you’ve been enjoying Forbes’ Mass Effect coverage, join Erik Kain and I today at 2PM EST for a live chat about the game on the Forbes Facebook page. We’ll be talking about the ending, DLC, game journalism, whatever you feel like. Please tune in then, and thanks for all your feedback so far.

It looks a lot quiter this morning and the sleep helped. I still think all of our 'troll' problems are internal but whatever, going to keep it positive today if it kills me.
I'm thankful for the quiet (for once). I'll admit, I was really worried about enthusiastic people starting a new charity so soon, but I like the way they went about it. Really proud of them!

Also I will say this again. Stop replying and feeding the trolls, report them and ingore them. You risk getting banned otherwise.
We have got to calm down.

Exactly, if they were out there, then they would be here as well.
As for me, I'm still trying to wrap my head around CP's decision... but I guess they can do what they want to.

Is there any way - any way at all - to get a final accounting of where the RME charity drive's dollar amount is now, after the "large numbers" of people demanding refunds? I would like to know how much as been lost from the overall $80k and have that number published to the community so that we can make that amount up on our own as individual contributors.
Probably not possible. I don't know when the cut off will be for refuding donations anyway.

I understand the decision, I'm just confused why they felt they needed to smear us on PA to avoid looking like jerks. Especially when Tycho says he supports us.
