This is awesome, we're almost at $5,500 last I checked and in no time at all. Thank you so much to everyone contributing and everyone helping to spread the word.

5000+ and fast heading for six!

Outstanding! If you were Marines I'd put you in for a NAM

Wish I could get something like this going for the Wounded Warrior Project

Just donated a bit, and while its for a good cause, feels weird donating to a charity where its organizers (penny-arcade) are clearly not on our side.

Would any of our multi lingual people like to post this with a bit of info on the project on some of the other language areas of the BSN?

Sometimes you have to work with the enemy to get sh*t done.  Cerberus at least taught me that.

Donated. If we're fortunate, we'll hit a large enough number for PA to notice on its front page - at which point, the floodgates should open. Further.

You know, I'm still amazed at how fast this has taken off. This is truly amazing.

I wonder what PA's reaction will be to this? Wouldn't it be sad if they denied the money?

Well if you do, post it. I'd be more then willing to throw some money at it seeing as how my dad was in Iraq.

We should email them with something like "While you criticize us, we donate to your charity".

No, no, no. If they want to be petty let them. There is no need for us too.

No. This is not about spiting them for there opinions, this not about spiting bioware or anyone for that matter. This is to help a worthy charity and by that effect rebuke what the media has painted us as, we will NOT give them any ammunition to turn us into whiney ignorable fan-boys.

Absolutely, maybe if we get our endings we could rally some thanks that way as well.

I doubt they'd reject it, they wouldn't look good doing that.

Just read this on the chipIn page:

We take care of the computer money, and you BioWare - make a game that won't make this children cry for 3 days straight after they finish it.
- Marta Pribilska

How about editing the second post of this thread and keep the qoutes or at last the best ones?

I was talking to my sister about what we were doing and she wanted me to pass along this message:

Hi this is makenzieshepard's sister. I want to say thank you to everyone helping through whether it blogging or donating money. My grandson was in the hospital with a brain tumor and has fully recoverd. He was lucky enough to be at Stanford where they offer kids lots of things to do. Not all kids are so lucky or blessed and to top it off are miles from home. Keep this going and don't stop. Thank you

I understand what you're saying (I've had problems with Penny Arcade in the past as well), but it's important to note that while Penny Arcade started Child's Play and Mike & Jerry are obviously still a big part of it, it is a separate entity from the comic. From what I've seen, they work pretty hard to keep it that way, especially because this is a children's charity and PA is decidedly Not For Kids.

My perspective is that nothing bad can come from this fundraiser. Nothing. I don't care if we get made fun of, if Bioware never acknowledges what we're doing here, or if we never get a single DLC to fix the ending. That is all irrelevant. We're helping kids have some fun while they're in the hospital. Nothing else matters!
