Its a good idea, but what about doctors without borders (also known as Médecins Sans Frontières). I get the gamer's connection with Child's Play, but their are other good charity's.

Plus Commander Shepard was supposed to represent the best of humanity, and the doctors of MSF are pretty awesome and dedicated too what they do.

That is also a great charity, and there is no reason as to why you shouldnt donate to them too, but simply because the childs play charity is atleast along the same lines of gaming it fits with the movement. Still worthy of donating too, I just doubt it would make a relevant tie in to this.

I'm in but can we also add in something other than the ultimate happy ending (which I want btw). For instance an at all costs ending where the reapers are stopped but every species is so devastated that there's no chance of rebuilding. Then after the credits roll there's a scene where whoever runs the next cycle finds one of Liara's message boxes.

What I was always really hoping for anyway was a variety of different endings based on all my choices.

I agree that they would be a worthy charity as well.  I absolutely think people should donate to wherever they wish.  Feel free to post here if you do in order to show your support.  Thank you!

I'm not against this per se, as it is a worthy cause, but...I dunno, it kind of makes us sound like we have misplaced priorities.  By attaching it to the petition it kind of sends the message, "Bioware, we're doing all this good stuff for kids.  Don't you care about kids?  If you cared about kids then you'd give us what we want."  I mean, obviously, that's not really what people around here think, but it might come off that way. 

If you think it's the right thing to do, then by all means, go for it.  After I type up this post I'll go over there and donate, but I don't think I'll attach my name to the petition.  Personally, I think we should be donating for the sole reason that it's a good cause, not because it will help us advance some collective goal that we might have.

I think that some people feel that way about it, yes, but many of us want to help a good cause, and also gain some media attention to our end as well. If we donate say, $10,000, we are not only donating to a wonderful charity organization, but we are gaining ourselves a lot of major attention to show that we mean business, and we feel that things need to be changed.

Reading way too much into this, think of it this way: You have a group of gamers finally who have come together (without knives in their hands) and there is a charity that benefits young gamers that if you are interested in helping you can. Hell if the people who oppose us had a community like this one decided to donate to this charity too why would it matter its going to help kids in need.

I think this is worth discussing and is just the kind of feedback on the petition that I was hoping for.  In my initial draft I was intentially vague about how the ending should change, because I don't believe it will be easy to come to a consensus (see what I did there?) about specifics. But it is not set in stone, if enough people request a change or addition we'll certainly add it.

We get to help kids, and it'll be a lot harder for ignorant to call us "entitled little cry babies". Win-Win.
