I think we've got it organized, unless Unique needs any help. If you guys really want to help spread the word and help me keep threads, more so our 800 page one, from descending into anarchy and chaos at the hands of trolls. Try to keep people focused and posts focused on the ending. Marta, everyone here who is donating is donating because it is a worthy cause, no one here believes this will magically get us what we wants. But it DOES get us good publicity as a secondary cause, instead of being "Whiney brats" We become "The mass effect rebellion movement overally donated over a thousand dollars to a charity, showing the world that they aren't just self centered whiners." It's honestly a win win, no one here is doing it to spite BW and if they are, they shouldn't donate. Quite simple.

I'm not against this per se, as it is a worthy cause, but...I dunno, it kind of makes us sound like we have misplaced priorities.  By attaching it to the petition it kind of sends the message, "Bioware, we're doing all this good stuff for kids.  Don't you care about kids?  If you cared about kids then you'd give us what we want."  I mean, obviously, that's not really what people around here think, but it might come off that way.

If you think it's the right thing to do, then by all means, go for it.  After I type up this post I'll go over there and donate, but I don't think I'll attach my name to the petition.  Personally, I think we should be donating for the sole reason that it's a good cause, not because it will help us advance some collective goal that we might have.

I totally understand this, and it occurred to me as well.  I certainly don't intend this to be some sort of coercion or blackmail.  My main intention was to dispel the current media narrative that we are "acting entitled" or "whining".  It will hopefully be seen as a positive action to bring attention to our requests.

I am also interested in ideas for improvement of the petition, if there is anything you think would help make it more clear.

Unique is there anyway to put the actual donate button on a site? We could get the community to create one site, that shows it's the whole Movement behind this push, even if it isn't ALL of them, that would definitely help clear up that we aren't whiners.

Alright someone brought up a good point, BW could lock a thread with advertising with this in it, so keep it out of the main thread. Put it in your signature though, nothing against that, I will as well...once I figure out how o.O

Thanks to everyone who has offered to help.  I have honestly not done anything like this before and I appreciate the offers.  At the moment I am in a holding pattern waiting to hear back from Child's Play to make sure I setup the donation page correctly.  Until then, I don't know of anything that can be done.

I should also say that the donation drive wasn't really my idea, I got it from this thread.  And I'd like to thank Rosery99 for helping coordinate between threads and giving me encouragement :)

Regardless, you've got a good group of people behind you on this so never hesitate to ask for help.

Please let us know when we can start making donations.

There is a way to link a donation widget into other websites, I don't believe it is customizable though.  They also provide hosting for a webpage.  I think using the ChipIn page would be as good of a solution as any for the main page, not to take away from the efforts of the current website and facebook page.

Agreed then Unique, simply thinking up ideas. But that sounds like the best one for now. And heh...Im just trying to do what I can for the cause, nothing special here.

A big thank you Unique for organizing this!

If you have not already found the links for the Facebook page / Twitter account, here is a post I just made (a few minutes ago, when we hit 17,000 likes after 3 days, remarkable isn't it?). It contains the links and twitter name! Remember:

You can count me and the remaining 18.83$ in my account in. Just remember to inform us when donations can start pouring in.

Glad to have you, Zirobo. Let us prove that we are reasonable people, we are not selfish and our requests and pleas, not demands, are just as reasonable.
