i think that's a very selfish way to do a charity drive. yes, it's a great charity that does great things, but would this drive be happening if the game had the best endings ever? i seriously doubt that.

Sad face.

So it's selfish to turn a bad into a good?  This probably would never have happened if we weren't upset about the endings, but every good cause starts with a call to arms.

I’m glad i found out about this charity it’s a brillant idea and i will continue to support it long after the rage over the endings has died down.

Wow, seriously, wow.

And that's why he gets the special shout out. He embodied what the entire drive is about.

She, actually :P
I've even managed to convince my mom to give £10, not much i know but she never gives money to charity.
But in all seriousness i think this charity is brillant and i am going to see if i can get a fundraiser event going at my college, we have a lot of gamers here and i think that given the right incentive they would join the cause and donate.

You are an embodiement my lady to the reasoning behind why UniqueName001 and I started this charity drive, why I came up with the idea to begin with and why everyone has put so much work into it. You embody what every person who has donated or help with the drive feels in the very depths of there hearts and souls and it makes me weep for joy to know there are still people who will sacrifice for others without hesistating. I salute you.

Way to hold the line.

Mass effect fans have already done child's play charities. Would this one specifically have happened? Maybe not, but this isn't exactly new. Now we're just using as another way to promote a desire to change endings.

I'm not entirely sure many here are here because we hope this gets them to change the ending.  I hope it does, but more importantly, I think it's a way to take this feeling we had when I finished ME3 and channel it into something good.  Let Bioware know that we love them, cherish them, and are grateful for years of memories, and hope we can get over this mistake.  And in the meantime, make some children's lives a little brighter too.  :wizard:

I prefer to think of it as using this opporunity to channel the rage about the endings into something positive and deeply meaningful.  It's what Shepard would have wanted.

I expect this to have zero effect on the Bioware/EA decision to do anything about the endings.

I've been out of work for about four months, so I don't have the money. I shelled out Christmas money to pre-order the Collector's edition, and despite counting pennies, considered it money well spent. I was in Nirvana... up until the last 15 minutes.

If I had the money to spare, I'd donate to the charity. I don't, so all I can do is offer my sincere praise to all of you for an amazing charity, and to add my voice to countless others. Add another option to the endgame.

Oh, incidentally, I just noticed that the page has an RSS feed, which tracks individual donation amounts.

And yes the $1000 was donated by one person.

I'm going to see if I can get my WoW guild to donate, were all pretty buddy buddy and lots of them have extra cash to throw around, they've helped me with stuff in the past and while they might not agree with our cause, I bet they'd agree to helping sick kids.

I don't think any of us believe it'll change Bioware's mind. If it does, then that's great. If not...well, kids get the help. That's what matters. We all came together to say that with one voice. Give all you have to give. Hold the line. It's jsut another way to show how much the series has inspired us.

That's incredible. I'm thinking either a really well off fan (seems unlikely, but who knows), or a mysterious VA or dev.  Either way, it's just incredibly generous.

In regards to my previous stupidity, I've donated again. Whoever said that donating money makes the ending seem less bitter is dead right.

So true. I think that donating money to help children in the name of ME3 and Shepard is what does it.

We didn't lose an ending, we found a community.

Hugs. Hugs and <3's all around.

I'm still bitter <_<

... But this made the whole thing a lot more bearable. At least something good came out of it. Turning disappointment into something positive like this is really uplifting.

Updated the front page - Jamie Dillion from Child's Play has offered to verify for anyone who is concerned about whether this money is actually going to the charity.  Contact email is jdillion@childsplaycharity.org.  Email address is also available from the website.

It'd be pretty awesome if one of the VA's got involved, but we all know they'd have to remain anonymous for fear of EA/Bioware backlash.

I am voting VA/Dev personally, I can't imagine many ME fans have a full grand kicking around with nothing to spend it on. I heard Jennifer Hale and another were pretty impressed by the drive, so I am thinking one of them. Also PC at work is awesome haha.

I would be even more awesome if a dev did it.  But yeah.  We'll never know because they'll never be able to reveal themselves.  So, to whoever it was, thanks! :D
