I was correcting something on the article when I say this in the comments, from a girl named Erika:
I must admit that, as a member of the Retake campaign, it has been an emotional ride. We have been attacked by people for our opinion and drive. Most of us have tried to remain respectful. But seeing an article like this makes it all a bit easier.
I am financially in distress at the moment. I’ve got to ship out for Basic training for the Air Force in three months and I have until then to get my affairs in order as far as bills. But when I saw the other campaigners organizing the charity drive, I immediately jumped on board and donated my eating money for the day (only 10 dollars, but food speaks quite a bit).
No, we’re not doing this for the publicity or using the children. I didn’t know about Child’s Play until this whole thing came about… And honestly, even if this BioWare/EA thing wasn’t going on, I would still donate to it. I would give more if I could. It is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
I do not doubt that EA and BioWare are working hard to get this organized. And I do respect them very much. Mass Effect as a series is very important to me, and they are the ones who made it.
We will keep holding the line, and we will make ourselves heard. If we don’t get a new ending in the end, who cares. We made our effort and we did something good in the process. A wise man once said: “It is better to have tried and failed, than never to have tried at all.”
She LITERALLY took the food out of her mouth to give. Meritorious conduct right there. If you're reading this, I have advice for you, posted on the website. Otherwise, contact me here. Everyone else, look at that. When people say that we're scum for 'piggybacking' or 'using' a charity, point them there.
I'm all blushy now, I didn't expect people to respond to that comment. ^.^;;
