You often see a lot of commentary about how BioWare fans are the worst - how the BSN is the most terrible game forum ever etc.
But I see on every other game site bitter rage about those companies games, and nasty stuff all the time - but I've never seen fans of a company or a game make their complaints by raising money for charity.
This is just outstanding.
Let it be known that the fans of BioWare did more than just whinge, rage and post troll comments - they made the lives of those less fortunate that little bit better.
Sp humbled and proud all at the same time.

Correction. Looks like the article writer just updated the amount raised. Still nice to know they're paying attention.

I am sorry, did BSN users donate $27,000 to charity to change the endings? Holy crap! Next paycheck I am donating! =)
While honestly there is a hope this will draw attention to the endings. Primarily it was a way for gamers to channel any discontent or anger at the ending of the game to a healthy positive outlet. And honestly, the way it's taken a life on it's own and I'm guessing the majority of people here are here to help the kids now, endings be damned.

Kotaku, IGN, etc. all get money by how many people they have going to their site.
They support us, then dismiss us, then support us.. etc.
It's getting us to keep going back.
Disregard them.

Agree.
The real message in the movement is "you can turn out something good even from things that had a negative impact on you".
People claiming it is for a sneaky agenda are total a**hole, it goes beyond the point of the ending of a simple video game. Those who don't approve can disregarde as much as they like, it won't change the "good" people are achiving by combining their good will.
"ah yes... good will... we have dismised that claim..." let them stay in the dark.

Exactly - its a much better way of saying "Hey, we don't like the endings - we've raised $X dollars (for a charity that deals with games) to show you we aren't alone." as opposed to the normal "OZDFMG!!! 11 U SHULD ALL DIIOEZ AND HAZ UR OFFICRESA BOMBD!"
Quite frankly - I think regardless of where it goes - its set one hell of a precedent for making your voice heard.

Luke's kind of a dork anyway, (Not as much as that Evan Narcisse idiot, whom I really can't stand.) but most of his stuff I agree with, but then he pulls some massive turn-arounds that make me scratch my head; like his opinions on Guild Wars 2. Owen seems to undersrand our opinions though, even if he is trying to take a neutral stand.
In the end, while it might subjective how bad the ending is (Yes, singular.) what's not subjective is how completely it clashes with Mass Effect's long running themes, and it plot established in the first title.

In one day we have raised 1/127 of the the total amount Child's Play raised last year according to their front page. By itself that doesn't sound like a lot but this has happened by a small, impromptu group in 24 blipping hours! As far as I am concerned this is a major accomplishment.
That is a major accomplishment.. don't let anyone tell you other wise. Everyone how donated, promoted, supported, and just kept this thread going helped out today. Good job everyone...
But it is not over. This was just day one. Let's keep it going. Our mission isn't over yet. We still have a new ending to the game to earn... and if we don't get that... well we better just go out in a blaze of glory helping by doing a good thing...
In the words from an NPC of another game that had their ending changed due to fans like us...
Keep Fighting the good fight.... And hold the line.

Ignorance of what people are saying about us is not the way to go. We need to be aware of others opinions and what the media is saying so we can end the false perceptions of our movement, as well as get our message out and adapt ourselves accordingly.

Almost $28,000 in one day. That's simply amazing.
