It's not always that in-your-face. + It's only this outfit.

I didn't know because I romanced Tali somehow my opinion was suspect.

But anyway the reason for why she appears so human, ****** included, is fully explained in the game.

Nope. I can't deny it. It's human nature to be driven by sex. It's such an important part of life that it's difficult not to include it in everything in we do.

Also,  I wasn't entirely accurate when I said it's restricted to that one outfit. EDI has lady parts no matter what. Look closely at her "naked" default look.

Well, we can be told that she can pass as human, and accept that as true in-game without them actually having to give her that ******...

Well yes we can, I am not sure why they gave her gratuitous ******... oh well.

As an infiltration model that looked like a normal human before it got blowed up, I am making the leap of logic that it could use sex as a means of infiltration.

To me it's just...REALLY weird because it means that not only did the Cerberus designer spent actual time to sculpt it...it also means somebody at Bioware did. Somebody spent like, REAL WORLD TIME modeling a robot vagina. And nobody walked past his screen and questioned him.

"Hey Frank, can you take a look at the ending and give us some feedback?"

"Not right now man, gotta put the finishing touches on this robot genitalia!"

"...Carry on."

So wait, she's gone from a talking vagina to a walking vagina now?

Thanks guys for finding new ways to ruin EDI for me, I definitely needed to know this...

A better solution would be to give all the female catsuit wearers cameltoes. Because... well it would happen.

Or ditch those types of outfits altogether. (Noooo.....)

Well didn't T.I.M design the body after a women he was infatuated with? Eva Core.

For the record, I can think of much worse jobs than that. Getting paid thousands of dollars to craft the perfect robo-cameltoe in a cool office.... acceptable.

It was designed and manufactured by a cerberus facility.  What purpose does that design detail serve?  Even going to the extent of giving it curves is an odd choice when your ultimate goal is an efficient killing machine.  It can't get through tight spaces with giant metal boobs.  But whatever, it's a sci-fi game so let it slide.  But really?  Some guy in a lab thought it was a necessary design choice to sculpt a metal vagina for it?  Why?  To what end?

It is designed for infiltration not straight up combat.

Like how Eva infiltrated the Mars base and paved the way for Cerberus to take control in ME3.

She didn't need to be a super killing machine when no one suspected she was a kill-sex-bot to begin with.

It was an insult for them to cite Maria from Metropolis as an influence in the look. A pure and absolute insult to such a brilliant piece of cinema.

EDI's character is great don't get me wrong, but the camel-toe disgusts me on every level. I never ever use that costume on her.

I dislike that people defend it, as well. Saying she's sexy for a reason etc. etc. That's an obvious excuse to give the robot a camel-toe costume.

At least the hypersexualised costumes in this game are gender equal. Kai Leng's outfit/look is pure, unadulterated fangirl fodder. So is Jacob's codpiece. And Thane's. And Miranda's.

I could go on.

Bioware just supplies the demand. I don't mind people against her look I just don't get it when they think EDI was "ruined" in Mass Effect 3 like she isn't a great character with a unique personality.

Some people put EDI in their squad for her appearance, others for her personality. I enjoy both. As a (ignorant? oblivious?) male it's hard for me to make the connection on what is so "disgusting" about it. If you think it's sexist that's fine, I can kind of see why people would think that. But I don't understand the concept of the female body to be "gross" or something to be ashamed of. I don't think that's a very healthy or realistic point of view.

Also before I confuse anyone I should point out I'm not responding to anyone or anything in particular. Just generally responding to criticism I've heard for months now.

No. Not problem solved.

The problem is that it is there in the first place.

listen, at first I was kinda repulsed by this too (and by EDI's "naked" appearance) but I can understand why they went there. Overall? It's certainly not the reason to flame the character, who is, actually, deep, caring, interesting and awesome

And I'm sure someone out there would argue that women should tolerate sexually explicit photos hung up in the workplace, because dudes love boobs, and if the job is good, why can't women just ignore the porn???

Yeah, this sounds ridiculous and unacceptable in real life because it is. Female gamers are being asked to shut up and ignore the fact that a non sexual creature was sexualized in a creepy and uncomfortable way, because dudes like boobs. Just because comic books and video games have perpetuated the nasty message, that females are only worth getting to know if they're sexually pleasing, in the past, doesn't mean that it should be acceptable forever.

EDI could have been really cool in a body. Instead she creeps me out and makes me feel sad about being a Bioware fan. Way to go, Mass Effect devs.

Yes, this. I have to agree.

If we had a male character onboard the Normandy with a huge, buldging crotch and a super tight t-shirt that showed his nipples or something, I am almost sure that a lot of men would get offended. Now, if we had both? I'm all good. We don't.

righlirughlfjbngtuihsg;roaehhthj

Imagine if we had this guy in pixel-form as a companion:

Even if he had a really cool story and was a great character, a lot of people would feel uncomfortable talking to him, others calling out, "GAYYY" on YouTube vids with him to make themselves feel better.

It's double standards TO DAH MAXIMUS.

The equivalent would be James walking around the Normandy in a mankini.
