Kind of. I just see it as Shep reinforcing the important things. When she says she needs time to get to know the guy she fell in love with, Shepard says "We're in the middle of a reaper invasion. We don't have time. You're either with me or against me."

I know. But the last thing you want to do with someone who is emotionally vulnerable is to be a jerk, especially when that can get them shot. That doesn't help, and in the end, you're really just going to get them killed trying to be the tough guy.

Just about everyone there might be vulnerable (reaper invasion). If not for that, then my Shep still has more room for emotional "consideration". He turned himself in good faith and all he got is his ship taken, put under house arrest, cut off from the "real" friends he made during an awesome suicide mission, and frustrated as all hell watching the Alliance and Council do nothing against the Reapers except sit around with their dicks in their hands. I think Ash's feelings are the least of my worries.

Because everyone thinks rationally all the time about everything. Especially their heroes. Sense is coming out of this statement like fresh water from a drainage pipe.

I don't expect everyone to think rationally all the time, but don't put the burden on me (or people like me) to care. I'm still going to insist on rationality, even if don't always expect it. Call me impatient? Lacking empathy? I don't know. Not my problem if someone else isn't thinking right.

Don't get me wrong, Street. I probably care less about emotions more than you do, least of all my own. I'm saying that it's not smart to expect people to think rationally. They won't. When everyone is dying, they only think about the "could be"s not the here and now.
