Benefits from my NG+ are weapon ranks and weapon upgrades are kept (not sure just for the NG+ but it is there), money is retained, various purchases like armor, fish, model ships, etc. You even keep your reputation/paragon/renegade. But as far as choices you've made within the game, that's a fresh start. So if you wanted you can change choices, LI, etc.
