I couldn't get the armor either by following the directions on the card. So I flipped the card over and tried the same method that I used to get Shale but with the armor code and it worked.

The armor is not given to you upfront sadly. You'll have to buy it when you go to your campsite through out the game. It's available the first time you go into your campsite after Lothering. It's about 10+ gold pieces. Honestly besides looking cool it's not worth it. If you have the Wardens Keep DLC that armor set is a lot better.
All the DLC (items) you must buy through out the game.

sorry but that is not entirely true, my game came with a card in it with a redeem number (downloadable dlc) on it for the blood armor set. all i had to do was follow the instructions to download it. no camp visit to buy it from my vendor.

The Blood Dragon Armor is a set of four pieces: body armor, helm, gloves, and boots. You should start the game with the body armor, but the rest must be purchased from the dwarf in your camp. (At least that is how it happened for me.) It is massive armor, but anybody in your party with enough strength can use it, not just the PC.
The armor should appear on your DLC screen even if your character doesn't have it yet. After you enter the code it is listed as Purchased. After that you must download and install it and it is listed as Downloaded. If the armor is not on the DLC list at all then it is not downloaded and not in the game.
I didn't enter the code through the website like the card said. I did it through the game like the other DLC stuff and it worked fine. I don't know why the card said to use the website. Just remember that you must be logged in to your Dragon Age account to activate any DLC. Once you enter a code while logged in to account X, the DLC from that code is usable only while you are logged in to account X. So if for some reason your internet was down, all your DLC stuff would be de-activated until it was back up again.
