It's just so sad to see such a great trilogy fall flat on it's face at the very end. It seems like whoever was in charge completely missed the point of the game being character driven. And what's worst is they could of given us the closure we wanted while still maintaining the majority of the current endings.

To compare another great Trilogy it would be like if Return of the Jedi ends with Han firing at the Death Star 2.0's reactor core then showing it explode. Followed by the Ewoks on the planet cheering and roll end credits. The fans would of been like "WTH was that?!" Did Han fly the falcon back out in time? Did Luke make it off in time? And so on. Those few more mins of Han escaping, Luke making up with his father, and them all getting together to celebrate at the end were key to the closure of not only the movie but the Trilogy as a whole.

I know SW was meant to be a lot more cheerful than ME but the point is resolving the arc for those characters not simply leave things hanging. This is what BW failed to do in the minds of the fans. Maybe BW considered them resolved in minds but often times an author may have a better fleshed out path of how things played out but leave those details out so they could change them if need be in the future. So having this extra knowledge that the fans don't they view the story as more complete than the fans.

Rather then repeat what I've already posted else where I'll just link my original outline how how they could of given us the ending we wanted while keeping thier color coded display.

Woo's been taking a stand on bumping, I've seen.

So I'll contribute my two cents for real.

I'm legitimately apprehensive about finishing this game, because it has been the catalyst for some of the best moments I've had in the past four and a half years, but the ending as I have heard it and had it explained to me, is unconscionably random, is more nonsensical than The Prisoner's ending -- I don't think I'm exaggerating -- discards a major theme of the series that's been building (that synthetics and organics CAN live together, as evidenced by EDI and Legion), and strands my Shepard away from Liara, strands everyone far away from home, and really has such an Inferred Holocaust regarding resources that it's not funny.

I'm horribly disappointed in these endings. That is all.

Another post, from Gamefront this time, saying the exact things we are saying.
1. Ploholes
2. Closure
3. Key Themes discarded...

Looks like the media perception tide is turning. Will only be better with the charity donations and everything. Hell, Bioware should probably match the donation total too!

I have to say that I remember when this whole thing was pretty small. After the space edition came out and we discovered that the endings were what they were, I think maybe a few hundred or so were calling for an epic ****storm.

But this isn't a ****storm. This is an entirely different storm I can't even describe. In a week's time, we have thousands upon thousands of people coming together to fight this. What started out as a cause with little hope has turned into a movement across the entire planet. People are giving money to charity, they are writing letters, they are spreading the word. They believe they can make a difference, that we can still save this trilogy.

Bioware I want you to look at this. You brought us all together through our love of this series. Each of us has a different opinion, a different Shepard. We have argued and chosen sides. We've gotten angry at each other and we've fought. We've created groups and supported our favorite characters, but we always loved this game.

And now look at what we are doing. We've started a united force, a fleet to save this game. Just like Mass Effect 3, we've put our differences aside and are pulling together to take down what seems to be something unstoppable. We're taking time out of our daily lives, money out of our pockets to try to change the last ten minutes of a 100 hour epic. That's how much this game means to us.

Slowly, our numbers will become larger and more media outlets will cover us. The funny thing is by saying nothing, you've actually let this movement grow to epic proportions. This is scary big now. Never before have I seen anything like this happen for a video game series.

And it's been ONE WEEK.

Be proud people. I have never been a part of anything like this.

Here's another one from Reptilian Rob, Lit Major. Another great read. He offered perspectives that we, being laymen in the Literature world, lack.

For who are just people chiming in. Here are the major things we are grieving over.
1. Major themes of ME1,2,3 discarded in final 10 minutes. Why must we discard hope, faith, tolerance?
2. No closure on characters
3. Plotholes, its like the Revenant just came over.

You talked me into changing my mind. My initial gut-reaction and my thoughts on why I can't stand the ending - all completely reversed.

Don't forget to apply for the debate club, your skills at persuasion are awe-inspiring.

This isn't really a huge grievance, but I think it needs to be mentioned - although it probably already has.

The lack of Harbinger. It's utterly obsessed with Shepard in the 2nd game, it makes a POINT to make sure Shepard knows it WILL be back. It discards the Collector General's body at the end of 2...

What happens to it? It's not even mentioned, as far as I know, in game 3. It just seems strange. This is one of those things that would work great for a DLC, and it isn't a huge big deal. It just seems odd.

It's a Noah's Tempest. Obscure sci-fi reference.

It is the Hurricane/Typhoon that would form on an Earth type planet that was 95% plus water, with only small island chains as land masses. The Noah's Tempest would effectively be one that never leaves the equatorial waters, effectively circuling the planet over and over again a few times till it finally deviates. By its second or third pass... would be a storm that makes even the worst Earth Hurricane look like a light drizzle.

That's what we are. :). I like being part of an Uber Apocalyptic Hurricane from a distant oceanic world.
